How does president Trump make the leap from arresting Maduro to seizing Venezuelan oil ???

Sen. Warner: 20% of our country's navy is going to be sitting off the coast of Venezuela, blocking oil tankers so we can extract that money? My fear is American soldiers in harm's way. And for what? America going in and taking a country's oil. We've seen that story many times, and it doesn't work

Sen. Murphy: Greenland, if Trump ever tried to make a move there, would be the biggest gift ever for China. They would get a free ride to global primacy as the United States and Europe were at war with each other.

GOP congressman: I hope Republicans stand up against this, because this is appalling. Greenland is a NATO ally. We have a base on Greenland. Denmark is a proven ally. The way we're treating them is really demeaning, and it has no upside. All it does is make our NATO allies angry.

Trump seems to be threatening to NATO because he didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize (which he misspells). Of a piece with reports that he refuses to back Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corinna Machado because she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize he wanted.
Trump: "I single-handedly ENDED 8 WARS, and Norway, a NATO Member, foolishly chose not to give me the Noble Peace Prize. But that doesn’t matter! What does matter is that I saved Millions of Lives ... I DOUBT NATO WOULD BE THERE FOR US IF WE REALLY NEEDED THEM."

This is such a monumental loss to information history, journalism & education. Hard to imagine we're living through this period in our country's history. Dismantling all that's good about America brick by brick.

This is tragic:

Kinzinger: A source said the reason the opposition leader is not going to be put in charge is because she won the Nobel Peace Prize, and Donald Trump wanted her to give it to him. If we are doing foreign policy on the basis of a 12 year old's hurt feelings, America should be very worried about that.

AFAIK, in 200 years, only 3 times did a country elect someone who had attempted a coup:

- Louis Napoleon (France, 1848)
- Adolf Hitler (Germany, 1933)
- Hugo Chavez (Venezuela, 1998)

Each one became dictator. I think we will be the first exception, but it's not something you screw around with.
The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made

They need to start freaking out more. The Venezuela raid has apparently left Trump thinking he’s all-powerful and now he wants to do it again and again. Beyond the insanity of running foreign policy on short-term whims, it’s also literally the kind of thing that could set off global war.
