Also mum to an AuDHD teen, cat-mum and emoji enthusiast 😅 So far managing to kick the 🍑 of stage 3 colon cancer / neuroendocrine carcinoma
Got my 3 month surveillance CT scan results today, and other than a few enlarged lymph nodes in my lungs (which could be enlarged for a multitude of reasons & that they’re going to keep an eye on) it was clear 🎉 Next scan in December

1 year since I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in my colon, and what a year it’s been. Grateful to be cancer-free at the moment, and for supportive family, friends and colleagues. P.S. There’s no such thing as “too young for bowel cancer”, check your 💩

The council SEND Transport team have gone and done it again - changed transport providers over the summer and not informed parents!!! Luckily the co-ordinator at the taxi company we’ve used for the last 3.5 years is lovely & proactively called me herself to let me know - even though it’s NOT her job

The 24/7 Neighbourhood MH Centres team at NHSE will be hosting an online knowledge exchange event on 5th August, 12-1:30 - come & hear from the pilot sites, independent evaluators & the national team. Open to anyone who’s interested including service users & lived experience/peer workers

Right now British MPs are essentially debating how many thousands of disabled people they are willing to sacrifice just so they can avoid taxing the rich just a tiny bit more. Later on they will vote. Whatever the outcome, we will not forget.

My post-chemo PET and CT scans were all clear 🎉 Next scans are in September. Until then, bring on the summer! ☀️ 😎 🍹 🏖️

NYT Connections really did us mental health people dirty on Tuesday! Apparently there’s no link between these 4 words 😂

The carers who visit my recently-widowed MIL who’s recovering from a broken hip usually arrive at ~6:15pm. She watches TV on her iPad in bed until it’s time to sleep. Imagine being a younger disabled person who works outside the house, you’d barely be home & already you’re expected to go to bed!
How do disabled people avoid 8pm bedtimes if that is the latest care agencies will send carers?

In hospital with blood clots in both lungs, picked up by a routine CT scan. Spent 10h in A&E last night, finally admitted to respiratory ward at 5am. I’ve been having tachycardia & shortness of breath for months, hopefully the clots are the cause & I’ll be feeling much better soon

I was sobbing into my Weetabix watching this this morning. Absolutely superb TV. If you haven’t persevered with season 2 of TLOU, keep going, it’s worth it
If you weren’t full on weeping during Episode 6 of The Last of Us, are you even a human being? Look at Pedro’s face, he is a gem, a shining light, and a beautiful actor. Bella bravo! This was the most well placed, strategic heart jerker of an episode ever done in a TV show ever. #thelastofus #TLOU

Saw my oncologist today. My heart is still being weird and I’ve started to get neuropathy in my hands and feet, so she prescribed a 2 week treatment break/holiday. Almost skipped out of the hospital before remembering that I have a resting HR of 140 so skipping is probably not advisable 😬

Chemo brain strikes again. Booked Finn a cinema ticket to see Thunderbolts, he got there & realised I’d booked it for tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️ Luckily Picturehouse staff exchanged it for the next available screening today. Thank goodness for kind people

But they really want disabled people in work, yeah? Disabled friends are already feeling this, with pathetic “packages” being offered to people with v clear support needs, often after more than a year of waiting for an assessment. Gov should be throwing money at this, not cutting it

A nice text to wake up to this morning. I don’t know what rate or for how long yet, but I’m kind of amazed. No assessment either, just a few phone calls to clarify things.

Wouldn’t have managed it without help from the Macmillan benefits advisor so gutted to hear this service is closing down 😢

Went to Epping Forest with Finn and a couple of friends this afternoon. Had a lovely pub lunch then saw these new parents out and about with their brood by the lake

Thought my oncologist appointment today was going to be quick (chemo & steroids are now at a level where the side effects are the right side of just about bearable) but no, my resting heart rate has been around 130-140 every visit since starting chemo so I’ve had to stay for an ECG

Is anyone else getting loads of followers all of a sudden? Lots with 92 or 1992 in their handles. Bots?

I had this genius idea that I’d reserve a magic bag of pastries from the local cafe via @toogoodtogo.bsky.social to encourage me to leave the house, and holy moly that is a LOT of pastries!!!

the real disability fraud is making the application process so difficult that ppl with disabilities cannot do it

Make it make sense. Make *any* of it make sense 😩
We're 'encouraging' people with disabilities into work; over half the rise in disability benefit claims since the pandemic is due to poor mental health. So what does Wes Streeting do? He cuts support. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Had a lovely blue-haired phlebotomist today who complimented my rainbow cardigan, took my blood without any fuss, joined in with my political ranting & showed me how to avoid getting a bruise. 10/10 vampire skills, highly recommended
