#2 - Sometime Lofty Towers by David C. Smith (from @newedgeswordmag.bsky.social). This one really hit me in a way I didn't expect - much deeper and more affecting than I imagined from what seemed, at first, like by-the-numbers sword and sorcery. I'll be thinking about this one for a while!

Some new reading material arrived today! Playing catch-up and exploring the sword and sorcery fiction released since like... 1996. I think the previous newest S&S material I'd read was some of Leonard Carpenter's Conan novels. Excited for some new blood 'n thunder prose.

In 2026 I want to read more John Langan, William Hope Hodgson, and Ramsey Campbell. I'm gonna finally read Howard Andrew Jones' collected Hanuvar, and Scott Oden's Grimnir. I also need to read another Cecelia Holland book after I forgot to last year... Then there's always room for surprises!
