There isn’t much evidence that layoffs are being caused by AI taking people’s jobs.
For big tech, such as Amazon’s recent layoffs, the reason seems to be a combination of cutting headcount to balance increased spending on AI infrastructure and anticipation of (not realized) AI productivity gains.

AI isn't replacing jobs. AI spending is
Big spending on artificial intelligence puts pressure on jobs, as gloomy narratives about the future of work are ironically making new graduates less employable.

Here are the Senators who voted to criminalize hemp products:
Last Tuesday night I felt real hope for the first time in more than a year & in the week since nearly all of it has been stolen away by work & feckless collaborators disguised as opposition…
It’s really hard to keep going some days…

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.
Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.
One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

These goddamned motherfuckers. No more Italian pasta on store shelves. Gummies and THC chocolates recriminalized. More cash handouts to MAGA criminals in the Senate. And no money for ACA subsidies or SNAP. This is what America gets because Democrats couldn't hold the line on the shudown. Assholes.

Dem Senators aren't for us unless they're for removing Chuck Schumer. Now is the time to highlight corruption in the Dem caucus and clean house.
Too many Senate Dems are bought and paid for and will fuck us and our entire democracy for their greed and the dark $$ that controls them.

I have to hand it to them, it's an incredible bit to publicly lose a game of chicken, admit that's what happened, and then spend the next day lecturing everyone about courage and tenacity

8 days after historic victories across the country, Establishment Dems fold like cheap lawn chairs…
It’s clear that being able to fundraise is their only desire & that everyone else can starve or lose health care as long as their holiday travel isn’t interrupted…

Gotta love traitors trying to justify their actions to starving people & those losing healthcare by claiming to be ignorant cowards instead… You can fight a vote of confidence to replace you and an actual fighter in the primary… Pathetic…

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.
We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.

But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Unless you own a whole portfolio of real estate, or multiple millions of dollars in stock, you should not concern yourself with "the economy".
Instead, you should be concerned about the cost of living, and what happens to people who cannot afford the cost of living.

It seems crucial (and long overdue) that our national political discourse has finally shifted from an obsession with "the economy" to what actually matters: whether people can afford the basic things they need to live.

Explained to an entire call of people who work with computers, some for decades, that I won’t rely on a tool that doesn’t guarantee accuracy & they were somehow shocked that AI doesn’t produce 100% accurate results… (it’s only one of my objections but the one I felt they’d most likely listen to)
