The value of unpaid household work in Canada is an estimated 25-38% of nominal GDP.

This is some of the most important and challenging work in our society. Basic income recognizes this and fundamentally changes our relationship to work.
India's unconditional cash transfers acknowledge the economic value of unpaid domestic and care work.

Some of society's most essential work goes unpaid. Basic income gives it the recognition it deserves.

Last year, while I served as LA Community College District (LACCD) Board President, we launched BOOST, a guaranteed basic income program providing students with $1,000/month. It helped pay rent, cover childcare, get out of debt, and stay enrolled.

When we meet students’ basic needs, they succeed.

NYC has launched a guaranteed income program for unhoused young adults, funded through the city budget.

It reflects a growing shift toward material support over punishment, and recognition that cash can be a direct path to stability.
