One particularly depraved aspect of Labour’s proposed jewellery seizure policy is that, after months of stating their goal was to crack down on ‘smuggling gangs’, they’ve proudly settled on a policy tantamount to saying, “Whatever these smugglers don’t exploit from you, we’ll have instead.”

Many things interesting about this thread of polling. To pick out one: the reform lads sure do love Sharia-like punishments
With Maurice Glasman and Dominic Lawson calling for the return of the stocks, we find most Britons opposed - although Reform voters are divided

All Britons: 21% support / 72% oppose

Lib Dem: 12% / 85%
Labour: 12% / 83%
Green: 13% / 82%
Con: 28% / 64%
Reform: 43% / 48%

I still don’t fully understand the logic behind the title “Back to the Future”. I’ve always just nodded through it and then in private moments tried to unpick it. Sometimes I think I cracked it, but in truth: nowhere close.

By-election hot take? When I was a teen I once got so drunk at Caerphilly’s Big Cheese Festival I faceplanted a paving slab and genuinely CRACKED IT. It’s only as I entered my 30s did I worry less about the social anxiety than the arse of going about replacing the slab. Brain damage not yet on radar

The 'Riyadh Comedy Festival' reminds me of the story of Freddie Starr performing in the Middle East, under instruction not to swear or refer directly to Prince Hussein.

He came on and said 'Which one of you fuckers is Prince Hussein?' and the curtain immediately came down.

think if you're broadly a centrist and were suuuuuper concerned about attacks on free speech from the left and so you decided to give the right a hearing then you need to realise you were taken for QUITE the ride (and don't really have anyone to blame but yourself)

And the Labour government - *Kinnock voice* the LABOUR government - thinks that's all just a wonderful display of free speech, while they also go about arresting pensioners for wearing Palestine Action t-shirts.

Because the parasite-king Morgan McSweeney decided he wants racist votes.

on 9/11 my friend turned to me at the lunch table and laid out the next ten years of history, nailed all the broad strokes: bin laden, afghanistan, iraq. I remember this not for his prescience but for how he followed it up with an absolutely pitch-perfect impression of stifler from american pie 2
