Using military lawyers to prosecute or adjudicate cases because civilian lawyers are resigning over ethical or legal concerns crosses a line. That is the kindest, most restrained way to put it.
JAGs Shouldn’t Be Civilian Prosecutors
The mass deportation policy is a legal mess—and reassigning military lawyers to support it would only create more problems.

"The Shadow President," @andykroll.bsky.social's deep dive into Russell Vought, has just won a George Polk award for political reporting.

The piece chronicles Vought’s rise from the Senate mailroom to his position as one of the most influential players in the Trump administration.

Read it here:

School counselor: Seeing children run in fear from our own government—that’s not America. I love this country. Kids shouldn’t be afraid at a school bus stop. How can we as a nation say, ‘We’re doing the right thing’ when this is happening?”

NEW: Major, BFD action by blue states standing up to ICE.

Maryland, on Tuesday, banned local law enforcement from being part of ICE's notorious 287(g) program.

That automatically forces *9* sheriffs out of their ICE contract!

And New Mexico did the same last week:
Maryland, New Mexico Become Latest Blue States to Ban Local Contracts with ICE - Bolts
Governors Lujan Grisham and Moore signed laws barring local sheriffs and police from partnering with ICE’s 287(g) program, joining a string of ten states with similar prohibitions.

Totally representative of the Trump regime. A competent military chasing the fever dreams of a senile crazy man with no competent policy advisors.
The WSJ reports that the Trump administration has massed "significant" air power in striking distance of Iran, but hasn't yet decided what the purpose of an attack would be.

The Trump administration is trying to reopen a shuttered correctional facility in Dublin, California notorious for its decrepit conditions and history of inmate sexual abuse.

Its proposed new tenant?

ICE.

I’m leading the fight in Congress to oppose this dangerous move.

The lawmakers, including East Bay Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, said they were concerned about detention center conditions and deaths in ICE custody.

This is the eighth death in ICE custody in the last seven weeks.
I received notification of yet another death at an ICE facility, meaning 38 people have died in custody since Trump returned to office.

ICE is failing to ensure the health and safety of the people it is responsible for.

We need immediate oversight of this entire operation.

Despite what Trump says, human trafficking is mostly a homegrown offense. 96% of ppl charged were for US citizens. Just 2% were undocumented immigrants reason.com/2026/02/19/9...

It's going to be genuinely difficult to figure out how much money he and his family literally just took from US taxpayers. Don't even mean the crypto scam profiteering shit, like actual treasury money that by one mechanism or another he turned into his own money.
Hmm. The US is giving $10 billion in taxpayer dollars, not appropriated by Congress, to a fake board set up by the President and which he put himself in charge of *for life*... seems very, very illegal.
Trump: "I want to let you know that United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion to the Board of Peace." (Congress has not appropriated this money!)

Federal grants that had been approved after a full application and review process were terminated by some random inexperienced DOGE bros based on whether ChatGPT could explain—in under 120 characters—that they were "related to DEI." That's what the newly released proposed amended complaint from the Authors Guild against the US government reveals about how DOGE actually decided which National Endowment for the Humanities grants to kill.

What are they so afraid of that they won't let me meet with detainees?
