Reintro time, given recent changes!
I'm Anna, a French-raised, UK-based game designer and writer currently focusing on getting Coffee Talk Tokyo out there ☕🥳
I erratically post about games, words, books, bunnies, travel pics, and (when I boil over) the appalling state of human rights.

Going through my grandmother's documents, and I found this Japanese movie magazine from the 60s that has her on the cover (amongst family pictures, some of them as old as the 1920s...) My little former-historian soul is kind of blown away.

I think Fallen London is my new way to keep myself engaged while I'm working rn. I just set a timer for every 10 minutes (around how long it takes to regen an action) and it gives me progress markers to show how long I've been working. It's easy to reset the timer and save them until I need a break.

Some of the most remarkable lost artefacts from the ancient world were the titanic wrecks of the Nemi ships, built for a Roman emperor.

In their first-century heyday they held gardens, palaces and baths in a floating wonderland. But barely a decade after their recovery, they were lost forever.

Good people of BookSky, I come begging for reading recs.
Let's say someone is by the sea, determined to do nothing except be lazy on the beach, and is looking for a novel that's very Good and Well-Written, but also generally sunny and happy and a page-turner. Anything comes to mind?

Of a mind to save it and send it over every time I come across someone who needs to read it...
This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”

Me five minutes ago: I'm not going to read the Prince Andrew biography, so I'll just read this article about it

Guys guys! After literal months, the books, they are all in the shelves 😍📚 And they all fit! (We don't ask how, we just give praise to the bookshelf gods. We also don't ask about the remaining pockets of mess.)

I'll say it once and I'll say it again. If you think artists are just "naturally talented", you're deeply wrong. The only difference between you and us is that we kept trying when it didn't come out like we hoped.
You can always make art yourself. There's no bad time to start, you can start now.

Evergreen, and applicable to game design as well: go out there, look at other artforms, experience things, live life. That's how you get inspiration and knowledge to make the really cool things.
Unsolicited Writing Advice: no. 12675:
"Write what you know" does NOT mean "Stop learning." The more you learn, the more you read, the more you experience, the more people you meet with different lives to yours, the more you're going to know, and that knowledge will make you a better writer.
