The city's unofficial results from today have David Weinstein elected to Cambridge School Committee rather than Eugenia Schraa Huh.

Per the release, part of the cause of this was test ballots incorrectly being counted on Tuesday.

Per the city, the high number of alphabetical ballots were test ballots that were incorrectly included. Today's unofficial results don't show that pattern. www.cambridgema.gov/Departments/...

In the #CambMA municipal election, voters came out stronger for the School Committee vote than in prior years.

Typically turnout is only 90-92% of the Cambridge City Council turnout. This year it was 98%.

Did the SC vote end up influencing the CC result? A data anomaly suggests it's possible:

Analyzing the #cambma municipal election results in this thread... who will we see on the Cambridge City Council?
This is my thread of #cambma Election Night live tracking results.
Google Sheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

So far no results, but the polls only just closed (8pm, or later if people are still in line), & mail-in ballots haven't all have been yet run through the machines at polling places.

The reason the rich complain so much about state taxes is because they don't want to move! The whole fun in being rich is getting to do what you want regardless of cost. Most sensitive enough to the 4% marginal tax over $1M would have probably moved over the 5% income tax or 8.5% shortterm cap gains
Huh, so Massachusetts remains desirable to rich people even if they have to pay a little more in taxes. Go figure!

Good summary of the Cambridge Public Schools Superintendent (named today) interviews by #CambMA School Committee candidate Anne Coburn. Crypto scam victim Garcia has a few answers that are disqualifyingly bad. Murphy seems like the best for the job to me. www.coburn-for-cambridge.com/newsletter/t...

Learned a lot from this article on picking a school in the Cambridge Preschool Program by #CambMA School Committee candidate Eugenia Schraa Huh.

CPP is free for all 4-year-olds! It's also how to get admission to popular K-5 Cambridge Public Schools programs. www.cambridgekidhelp.com/blog/cambrid...
Cambridge Preschool Program Lottery: How to rank your choices [Table Included]
🥳  The good news:  The Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) provides free preschool to  all  4-year-olds and  some  3-year-olds living in Cambridge. ☹️  The less good news:  The options...

Cambridge Public Schools superintendent candidate Lourenço Garcia withdrew $751k from his bank to buy a shitcoin that was a scam. He sued the bank for not stopping him and lost. Bad judgment. I won't vote for any Cambridge School Committee members who think he should run the $280M CPS budget #CambMA

Today we're sharing a deeper dive into how we made our Council endorsements. We considered 3 major components: (1) a commitment to completing the CSO on schedule by 2026, (2) each candidate’s vision for the future drawn from our candidate questionnaire, and (3) the voting record of incumbents.

New: In this week’s Innovators column, I wrote about the founder of Shellf Life, a Providence-based startup that turns seafood shells into sustainable building materials and furniture.

Caught this in @maxread.info’s latest and this is such a good articulation of the difference between early 20s ambitious young people and folks who have a bit of experience (including failure).

“It’s an attitude, not a skill” is it in a nutshell.

Was just talking about this issue when discussing this stupid Anthropic experiment: www.anthropic.com/research/pro.... The way I put it was that they think they're producing robot doctors, but they're producing robot actors who play doctors on TV and then wondering why they can't do surgery.
