Thought I had a good place to use "ichor" in my new book last night, but in the end, it just didn't fit. Now I really want to find a spot for it because it's an excellent word. I did get to use "moist" though. 😂

Since I've been reviewing the audiobook for Child of Vanris, I thought it might be fun to drop a snip of that today for #WIPSnips. The word today is "calm."

It wasn’t fair that a man who cared nothing for him had the power to make him feel so worthless. “You would be wrong.” Warning added a sharp edge to Arhk’s tone. Kasiel started opening the door, then hesitated again, a burst of longing making him linger in the bitter emptiness of the space between them. He stared at the lever as if it could somehow save him from the hollow growing inside. “What was her name?” he asked softly. The stifling silence lingered. When Kasiel was about to give up and leave, Arhk answered him. “Ellaris. Your mother’s name was Ellaris.” The weight of her name landed heavily on his shoulders. A crushing sensation in his chest made each breath hurt. Why? He didn’t even remember her. Or maybe that was why. That his own mother’s name—a beautiful name—should sound like the name of a stranger to him.
