I’m pinning this to my profile because it’s important to know the reasons why trans children need access to gender affirming care.
They remember what it was like before cars had emissions rules. The Republicans remember leaded gasoline, and they want it back.
People have forgotten the horrible suffering pre-vaccines. They have forgotten the brutality of fascism. But those things ended before most people alive today were born.

Have they really forgotten how bad pollution was only 20 or 30 years ago?

The Holy Roman Empire in the year 1618, on the eve of the 30 Years' War.

I've been working on this map for a week or two, and I finally had the time to finish it. I'm very proud of how it turned out!

The concept of an age-dependent minimum wage is especially disgusting. Your labor is worth the same as anyone else’s, no matter your age. Whether it’s for under-20s, under-18s, or anyone else, the minimum wage should meet the cost of living.
Trying to LOWER the minimum wage for countless workers — including those just getting a start in the workforce.

After voters in both states approved minimum wage increases. And while the nation struggles with an affordability crisis.

The GOP agenda.

You know who else outnumbers police in every city and state? Criminals.

And yet somehow police can keep on arresting them

The fact is you guys are cowards who think small and won't try. Stop being afraid. You know who's a bigger coward? ICE. They will cry like babies when real cops bring the cuffs

Private prisons turn a profit by depriving people of their human rights. It’s time that ALL of them, every person involved in this evil industry, are held accountable.
"The largest immigrant deportation and prison contractors in the US are expecting an epic payout this year: for every $1 that they donated to GOP campaigns in 2024, these private companies stand to reap more than $11,000 in increased annual revenue."

There needs to be some kind of accountability for law enforcement agents who arrest people without cause. It should be a criminal act to deprive people of their freedom unjustly.
Arresting journalists doing their jobs, sending the DNI to raid election offices in GA, unleashing fed agents that kill Americans & then cover it up.

Trump’s authoritarian takeover is quickening. We must respond like the people of Minneapolis —peacefully but with fierce urgency.

Hot take, we should not normalize conspiracism at all on the left, under any circumstances. The facts and evidence are on our side, we don’t need to engage in anti-intellectualism to win. It’s dangerous and counterproductive.

People are now discovering that rights only exist when the government cares about them. The law isn’t some supernatural force, it ceases to exist when it isn’t enforced.
It doesn't matter what the Constitution says. If the government can execute you on the street or in your own home on a whim, you have no rights. None.

Probably because these people don't just want immediate forgiveness, but they still want to maintain their perceived status. They consider themselves "thought leaders" and thus see it as completely reasonable to demand that everyone they declared to be hysterical listen to them now.
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

The Party tells us not to believe our own eyes and ears.
Sen. Hoeven: "We can't just go by what we saw on videos on social media. We've got to get the facts. But in a situation where an individual appears to have approached law enforcement, intervened while they're trying to do their job, and he has a loaded handgun, think about that."

Start arresting them, then. Your “leadership” has been so disappointing lately.
I’ve reached out to both Gov. Walz and Sen. Klobuchar following the latest shooting involving federal agents in Minnesota.

Marylanders have witnessed this cruelty in our own communities – during a school drop-off in Salisbury and in Glen Burnie on Christmas Eve. These are not isolated incidents.

I believe everyone should be able to live in whatever society they want. I frankly don’t care if they’re “illegal” or not, the law is simply wrong on this issue.

The next administration needs to go on a crusade against surveillance. Public or private, foreign or domestic, we cannot tolerate any surveillance anywhere under any conditions.

ICE is now doing “Free Candy” strategies. Cartoonishly evil.
The Columbia Heights MN School District is in a full crisis after 4 children were abducted by ICE in one day. This includes a 5 year old that was used as “bait” to lure people out of houses in the area.

Trillions of dollars have been spent reorganizing the economy and “shaking up” society for useless generative AI. Us common people had no choice in this, and yet we’re the ones who will have our futures stolen away when the bubble pops.

That thing looks like it has at most 6 seats. That is not a bus, it’s a mid-sized van.

A city like DC needs real, full-size busses (or better yet, trams), not automatic vans.

Greenland is definitely important for NATO security, so it’s a good thing that Greenland is already part of NATO.
Great maps. Helpful article. And yet, once again, <every> one of these pieces that does not start with "seizing/acquiring 🇬🇱 violates both the UN & NATO treaties & therefore also US domestic law" is failing as journalism. The frame here totally legitimizes & normalizes all of this.
While many Americans and Europeans say the U.S. doesn’t need to own Greenland to bolster security, the island does play a big role in defense for North America and across the North Atlantic.

I don't understand US peeps going on about the Epstein files. You all know he's guilty already.

He's got secret police kidnapping, attacking and killing people already. He's effectively resigned you from NATO and is threatening a war against the rest of us.

It's not distraction.

A lot of the left’s conversation around Mamdani is about whether he is a socdem, or a genuine socialist constrained by the system.

Statements like this give me a lot of hope that he’s the latter. The idea that people are entitled to cheap/free entertainment strikes me as distinctly socialist.
“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”

And of the few notable exceptions, the first one that comes to mind for me is Mina Bonteri, who was assassinated by Dooku for trying to negotiate a peaceful end to the Clone Wars.
The Separatists actually being the good guys is a compelling take ruined by the fact that every notable one is either a caricature of a capitalist or an avid war crimes enjoyer.
From the perspective of the average person in universe, Star Wars is the story of Count Dooku warning everyone Palpatine was a tyrant and being tragically ignored the misguided old Jedi companions he was forced to take up arms against, only to be vindicated upon death.
