I found a knitting pattern for a peaked red cap that was used by people in Norway to protest the Nazi occupation in WWII and some person from Minnesota wrote a screed about it calling it "cultural appropriation."
Thankfully they got downvoted into oblivion.

I'm not exactly a Marvel Stan but I do appreciate how Wonder Man features a guy whose family is Haitian.
Between that, Ms Marvel and Echo they have produced some shows that feature some very different sides of the US that don't typically appear on TV.
