there isn't a single day of the year that i don't think about those i've lost in my own life. but in a cissexist world that sees trans deaths as nothing more than a statistic, it's important to come together as a community and remember those society would rather us forget

i dont even know what we're supposed to say on Trans Day of Remembrance anymore. we keep losing so many and they are determined to make us lose more. we keep being told to hold onto hope but fuck me im in a civil rights dispute RIGHT NOW. we'll fight but fuck me it's hard not to feel alone

I don't think I've come across a poem that taps into my ethos when it comes to navigating queer community within the context of a hostile world as much as "We Have Enough Dead Friends" by Lena Oleanderson.
