faceapp didn't help me crack, but it gave me a goal when i did
I can absolutely see how a gender-swapped FaceApp photo could help some folks crack the egg. My own take on my gender is "99% cis, 1% still mad I can't sing like Alison Moyet." But I like checking in on my alt version from time to time. Definitely prettier than I am.
Funny enough, a FaceApp picture helped crack my egg after 20 years of denial.
