New at @winnipegfreepress.com. Every month, we’ll document one day in the life of a person, place, or organization that helps keep our community going. For first instalment, we went behind the scenes at the Winnipeg Humane Society, and met so many good cats

It was easily one of the most stressful jobs I've ever had, and I was a server before. I'd get home and wonder how the hell I got through that day.

Then I'd be paralyzed with stress thinking "oh god, I have to do it again tomorrow."

I could go point-by-point through this interview, correcting all the basic errors

But overall, I’m embarrassed. That this passes for policy. That it’s been 11 months and yet this sounds like a Minister who met his file a week ago

I don’t object to policy changes or even cuts per se. I object to vacuous, incoherent policy, ill-briefed, unprepared and with basic errors

Ep 301 of Leverage Redemption S3 had a villa in France full of evil billionaires colluding to pillage trillions in public goods who were keeping a small town activist in the basement until they could execute her led by a guy who admired Putin, and we did not, in fact, go hard enough. Apologies.

Canadians horrified by what ICE is doing should realize the RCMP uses the same tactics domestically against Indigenous people and yet barely anyone speaks up.

Journalists have been arrested just for trying to cover it

In December, the Canadian government gave $1 million to Ottawa's JSI Telecom to commercialize AI-driven data analytics.

JSI, a wiretaps and investigation support firm, had a banner year in U.S. government sales in 2025, including a big new contract with ICE.

There are rumors that ICE is dropping off people barefoot or even nude in the woods.

I just want to remind people that these tactics aren’t new or from 1940’s Europe.

Ask any indigenous people. It might be new to you, but they’ve been in this fight for centuries.
