"Stay angry, little Meg," Mrs. Whatsit whispered. "You will need all your anger now."
The sequence hymn from yesterday is a whole word. 🕯️

O God of every nation,
of every race and land,
redeem the whole creation
with your almighty hand;
where hate and fear divide us
and bitter threats are hurled,
in love and mercy guide us
and heal our strife-torn world.

The inscription inside the cover is especially fitting for today, and I love it.

For no reason in particular (every reason actually), this year can we just not talk about how young Mary was when she had Jesus? One, we don't know how young she was, two, and it's just not a helpful comment in our cultural context, especially now. ⚓

Do you know how amazing it feels to look forward to going to work and then feel energized when you get home because, instead of being a soul-sucking venture, you feel like you're doing what you were meant to do?!?

I haven't felt that way in... Forever.

Stop saying 40 is the new 30.

Let’s make it the new 50. The new 60. The new 75. Let’s all eat dinner at 4pm and turn off our hearing aids when we are tired of dealing with people and spend all day looking at birds.

Today is definitely up there for favorite church days. We had the baptism of babies this morning, and this evening we'll have a Requiem for All Souls. We're experiencing the span of the Christian life in one day. And I love it with all my being. 🕯️

The feast of All Saints is a reminder, among other things, of the infinite goodness of God. No one person can know more than a fragment of God’s love and glory, but we see a slightly different aspect reflected in each of the faces of the saints, in all their sometimes slightly weird diversity.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Imagine you could ask some dude to hop in his big, gas-guzzling car, drive over to your house any time, and do your work for you.

But what if I told you that when the dude left your house, he was going down the block to visit a troubled teenager in order to help them commit suicide? (Gift link)

"It’s not on us, on you and me, to use AI ethically or responsibly. It’s on the companies to build safe, reliable, ethical products," David M. Perry writes.

It feels a little unreal since everything's happened so fast, but I've started my new job and have finished two thirds of the training necessary to become a certified RBT. And can I say how nice it is to enjoy my job? I get to work with kids all day, and I love it.

I don’t want to give Trump too much credit, but I think even he realizes that the kingdom Jesus offers… isn’t the kingdom he wants. And that’s why he keeps saying he’s not getting into heaven.
You cannot claim Jesus as your savior while simultaneously rejecting the kind of kingdom/world Jesus is calling us to build.

“Accepting Jesus into your heart” means accepting the kind of world he was ushering in that cared for the poor, the marginalized, the immigrant, the widow, the orphan.
