Question for Episcopal/Anglican bluesky folks, especially if you have experience with children's ministry. What (if anything) are you doing to incorporate the liturgical calendar/practices into a kids chapel? What is working for you? 🕯️

Not to boast (ok maybe just a little bit), but I find a leather bound NRSV with Apocrypha for $25 on eBay today. ⚓

Going to try to start a rumour that the original themes of the Advent candles were Death, Judgement, Heaven, and Hell.

And the finished pie. Did it take a lot of work? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely

I don't know about other families, but pie is a *big* deal for my family (had its own chapter in the family cookbook & each person is expected to bring a pie to Thanksgiving deal). This is the first Thanksgiving since my grandma died, and as I'm baking a pie tonight, I'm remembering and missing her.

In the list of longest relationships, my book club is high on the list. I've been part of the same book club for 18 years, longer than I've been a member of any church & longer than most of my friendships. I love that one of my grounding relationships is centered on a mutual love of books.

The sequence hymn from yesterday is a whole word. 🕯️

O God of every nation,
of every race and land,
redeem the whole creation
with your almighty hand;
where hate and fear divide us
and bitter threats are hurled,
in love and mercy guide us
and heal our strife-torn world.

For no reason in particular (every reason actually), this year can we just not talk about how young Mary was when she had Jesus? One, we don't know how young she was, two, and it's just not a helpful comment in our cultural context, especially now. ⚓

Do you know how amazing it feels to look forward to going to work and then feel energized when you get home because, instead of being a soul-sucking venture, you feel like you're doing what you were meant to do?!?

I haven't felt that way in... Forever.

Stop saying 40 is the new 30.

Let’s make it the new 50. The new 60. The new 75. Let’s all eat dinner at 4pm and turn off our hearing aids when we are tired of dealing with people and spend all day looking at birds.
