Excellent article by Zadie Smith on the underfunding of cultural institutions in the UK. Question: Smith writes the British used to think the UK "had a bone-deep sense of fairness." The UK? When? I'm serious, not being snide.

I totally agree about UBI & transforming the economy.
We shouldn't be measuring artistry by the goals of capitalism. Labor and wages are their goals, not ours.

If you want to fight for artists, fight for UBI. Fight for a generous welfare state that supports the dignity and economic freedom of all people.

Destroying the tools doesn't help the artists.

7:45 am, & I have already been the recipient of human kindness. Asked fellow at disability center if they could convert PDFs to Word for me so to spare me screen time during a chronic pain flare. He said the center can't do that, but he understands chronic pain & would do it personally. Gratitude!
