I'm just wondering if we'll have the option of turning all these features off. One thing I've liked about Bluesky is that it just neutrally shows you what's in your feed without guessing for you what's going to be important to you.

I totally agree about UBI. I agree AI is not going away, too, but I believe part of the economic conversation has to be about how to reduce AI use to reduce its environmental impact, at least in the near term. (Speaking as a teacher, it needs massive regulation; it's a losing battle over here.)

I think Glenn is encountering this too at work, not the specific AI story but the general unwillingness to devote time and resources to actually figuring out how to do things well.

Good news, but shows we need to transition swiftly away from a growth economy. Annual emissions are still rising, even with renewable energy (Trump is making it worse, but it's been true consistently except for the Great Recession and the Pandemic: the only 2 recent times GDP wasn't growing).
