I'll remind everyone: when a governor or mayor gets what is meant to be positive national attention, look to their constituents to get the truth. I don't know one Californian who fucks with Newsom. Even people who voted him into office and/or to protect him in the recall are like "yeah but he sucks"
Californians are NOT going to vote for Gavin Newsom. They're telling you now, with YEARS to go before the election. Fair warning. Please support better candidates, there will be many to choose from.
