Supporting African artists with practical assistance in these harsh economic times 🎨 | Rooted in kindness, community, and mutual aid, we provide creatives with support to navigate life’s challenges. #ArtistsLivelihoods

got my hands on a copy of the November 1995 issue of Vibe Magazine, for which I interviewed Quincy for The Vibe Q (another thing I came up with during the creation of the magazine; I’m still proud of that one haha)

The best way to prepare and fight is not always to read a endless daily stream of information that makes you feel overwhelmed and hopeless.

Read books about resistance to fascism. Develop a strategy. Do local work and build a strong community around yourself.

We are going to need it.

Dear Grown-Ups,

Please take time to nurture your own curiosity and joy. These things are not just for children.

This photo shows a dry ice filled cloud bubble dropping into the audience @adalovelaceday.bsky.social at The Royal Institution, London. The anticipation is tangible! #SciComm

A lesser-charted chapter of 20th-century Black history surrounds the artists who relocated to Scandinavia over the well-trodden paths to Paris.
When Scandinavia Was a Hotbed of Black American Culture
“Nordic Utopia? African Americans in the 20th Century” zeroes in on a far less charted corner of Black history than that of expats to Paris: the artists who ventured north.

Master poet Lefifi Tladi said to us "artists are the servicemen/women of society's sanity"! #SupportArtists #ArtistsLivelihoods
Art is light in the darkness. Shining beacons which strengthen resolve and enable hope. We need art the most in the darkest times.

Support artists, individually & collectively (including yourselves if applicable), however you can in the face of our every crueler world.
I've talked to a few folks this morning who were talking about stopping work on their creative projects. Because it's "not important anymore."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but DON'T DO THAT.

We win by living our lives as loudly and truly as we can. That includes your "silly" art project.

As a small business/artist whose audience was mainly on Twitter (12k+), it's scary, but I deleted the app from my phone.

Please support artists on other social sites. It's gonna be rough to rebuild networks of support.

Hi, just a quick announcement, my old anti-AI list has now been upgraded to a general anti-art thieves list! ✨

My reasoning for this is that the two aren't that different, AI art is theft, and art theft is an attempt to deceive you to make you think they created something.

Anyway, enjoy! 🤍

The big fish are scary, but there’s more of us than of them. Support each other, support local drag artists, queer artists and LGBTQ+ spaces.

Organise, plan, fundraise. If history can teach us anything it’s that we can get through anything, together.

Support artists, not climate destroying, electricity-grid ruining thieves.

This whole thread. I’m going to keep working to build a better world and I’m going to try and do one thing each day that delights me (and maybe share it). Stay in it. Plan for joy. ❤️👊
Y'all know I'm going to fight. I'm going to build with communities of resistance and refusal. You'll hear from me about that, trust. But today I want to share another hot tip for survival in dark times: plan for joy. 1/x

I haven't said much since Tues because I didn't have anything helpful to say. How do we keep going when America is sliding into authoritarianism? Then I realized: I've been thinking about this for years. I wrote a whole novel (OUR MISSING HEARTS) looking for ways to keep hope alive in darkness.
