Heard and interesting, dark thought today.
Europeans have to make up their minds if they want Ukraine to continue to have their backs — or to be the base for their enemy, because that’s what will happen once Russia controls it.

If we want to prevent this war to continue, then actually we should curb the army of Russia and also their military budget.

Because if you're spending 38% of your total budget on military, then you will want to use it again.

Anecdotally, while I was looking for a source to refer to for this article with the search words ”Russia rejects US peace plan”, I found media articles on that topic from November 2024, February, May, June, September, and October 2025.
Made an effort to establish a timeline of this latest iteration of essentially the same old attempt by the Trump administration to force a peace deal, doomed to fail like the previous three times.

The number of plot twists would have been amusing, if it wasn’t so cruel to Ukraine.
The Rise and Fall of the Dim-Wit Plan
The latest iteration of a "secret US-Russia peace plan for Ukraine" would have been funny, if it wasn't so cruel to Ukraine.

Genau und precisely. English subtitles. It’s about time Europe starts acting instead of always reacting to the whims of the US administration.

This seems to be a fitting metaphor for current politics.

A legislation in a trivial matter, that the majority doesn't care but is rather against, gets passed.

Meanwhile, the really important, big, and relevant issues (climate change, aging baby boomers, much needed infrastructure project) do not.

The original was apparently a 30 point plan - one of the erased points being a new Russia-US alliance against China. Wonder why it didn’t pass? 🤔
Unfortunate that @christogrozev.bsky.social has not shared here the remarks he published on X about the Trump-Putin plan for Ukraine.

Of course not. Because TACO.
For the 1000th time, how to deal with Trump: Show strength. Shape events. Make him react to your move rather than jumping like a scared rabbit whenever he says something nuts.
Europe’s consistent failure to do so only encourages more American madness.

I am sorry to say: even if it is not accepted. The mere fact that Trump & Vance put a deal on the table in which the US is conceived as a) benefiting financially from a deal akin to capitulation and b) the US is the neutral party mediating between Russia and Nato destroys us leadership.
Who will benefit from the White House’s 28-point proposal for Ukraine? For a decade, Russia has been seeking to divide Europe and America, to undermine NATO and weaken the transatlantic alliance. This peace plan, if accepted, will achieve that goal. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

The US peace plan is breathtaking. And among all the breathtaking things this para. characterizes how Trump sees the US: as the mediator between NATO and Russia. (And, yes, there's also a paragraph of the US profiting financially from the deal)
