At some point, the people of the US are going to have to ask themselves why in 2025, we still have a system of "democracy" that is intentionally designed to give the 60% of pro ethno-state white voters more power than everyone else in the country combined.

Questions for the 40% of white folk.

On #WorldMentalHealthDay, all governments should commit to moving away from coercive mental healthcare practices.

Human Rights Watch has documented coercive mental healthcare practices, including shackling people with mental health conditions, in more than 60 countries across the world.

Once I had a draft, I asked some of the smartest organizers I know for their input, and listened to folks already grappling with Trump's militant escalations in L.A. and D.C. What was ultimately shaped by these conversations is a set of questions that can help guide our preparations for this crisis.

This worksheet can help us prepare for Trump's military interventions at the neighborhood level.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

A column I wish I never had to write: The SCOTUS has washed its hands of its duty to be a check against tyrannical actions of the executive. As someone who has dedicated my career to protecting the rule of law, I’m profoundly shaken. Heaven help our nation. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/06/25/o...

No right is safe.
Sotomayor issues a blistering dissent that states plainly that this decision renders constitutional protections meaningless.

The decision in Casa v Trump today is mind boggling and, frankly, fascist. Justice Jackson says it: "The majority’s ruling gives the Executive the go-ahead to sometimes wield the kind of unchecked, arbitrary power the Founders crafted our Constitution to eradicate."
