Aha! Something I understood, but couldn't articulate. Worship != Christianity
To model mercy not in the abstract but in the tactile and tangible… what Peter Thiel and western evangelicalism miss … if you worship Christ but don’t follow Christ … you are not a Christian

You are a zealot

Worship is not the point … love is

This is not ok. We are not ok.
New developments in the AI-ificaiton of the US government.

In my view these are further steps toward building an evil computer that auto-funnels your tax dollars directly to the broligarchy.

You be the judge. Here's the evidence 🧵

Ghislaine Maxwell was instrumental in the sexual grooming and trafficking of children. So says multiple VICTIMS.

Believe the victims not the perpetrators.

Ummm. Yeah, you just don't accidentally make that mistake. White blue and red?

What do you notice? What all do you see?

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Hoo, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me...

I did not edit this, this is the actual parade with the actual music being played.

I used the link. Win win.
Organizers in LA are raising money to do tamale buyouts from local tamale vendors who are unable to safely vend on the street due to ICE kidnapping vendors. The tamales will be distributed to unhoused neighbors. Please consider donating — I personally vouch for this one: venmo.com?txn=pay&audi...

It isn't that America lacks courage. It's that we’ve become so cut off from one another that many of us feel alone, which makes us feel afraid.

But when we are surrounded by courageous people, all of us become more courageous.

Courage is contagious.

We had this book! It made it through my 4 older siblings. By the time I came along the bow was tattered, and the bell was misshapen and no longer rang, but I read it over and over.
My mom gave me the most wonderful Easter gift - this kitty book she loved as a child. Her own copy is long gone but she found this one in beautiful condition with the original bell and ribbon!

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Just updated this timeline to fix a typo and address an error in the last box where I'd gotten the manner of arrest wrong.

I present the full version Mr. Abrego's time in the United States, using court documents to explain the allegations of gang membership and what actually happened in his case.

This is just the content we need right now.
A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

This thread on what it takes to get called an enemy of the state. 👀
NEW: @aclu.org obtained ICE's "Alien Enemies Act Validation Guide," confirming all it takes to be sent to rot in prison in El Salvador is being Venezuelan and 1) having a tattoo an ICE officer says is a "gang tattoo" and 2) displaying "logos," "symbols" or clothes an ICE officer says are gang signs.

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

I cannot explain the giddy joy it fills my heart with that they actually gave her a place a medal.

Like that’s just so pure and innocent and wonderful. I wouldn’t even be mad if I lost a place to her 😭😂

Hating on ppl is so weird to me.

Like, why are you mad bc someone else is winning, fine, accomplished, in love?

Seeing ppl win, esp black ppl, makes me so happy. I be so hype! I love reminding ppl that they are beautiful, inspiring, or brilliant.

If someone winning upsets you, look within. Pls!

Happy International Women's Day!

In February 1909, Carrie Shelton became the first woman to serve as acting governor of a U.S. state, three years before Oregon women gained the right to vote. On March 8, International Women's Day, take a look back at Shelton's legacy with this story, originally published on Feb. 27, 2019.
The governor who couldn’t vote: Why history forgot Oregon’s 1st female head of state
America’s first female governor served in Oregon three years before women in the state gained the right to vote. But history has largely forgotten her. That wasn’t an accident.

@gluesenkampperez.house.gov I am angry that you voted to censure Rep Al Green. I voted for you to represent the people. Congress has sat back and abdicated its responsibility to govern while our government has been hijacked. The very least you all can do is resist in every possible way. I expect it.

I'll start: MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP also known as toothpaste flavored travesty. #blacksky #bluesky #food
