Making a Jāņu siers, a cheese traditionally made for the Latvian midsummer celebration Jāņi. Cheese is what Latvians do instead of human sacrifice. Otherwise that movie Midsommar offers a pretty solid ethnographic description of it all.

I think the nurturing fairy godmother vibe it has may have been extra appealing in a day of transit and separation.

I'm always mentally half-wallowing in the late antique/early medieval so am totally in sympathy with the village of Pampliega's appeal.
Helsinki has tons of nifty things to do and see but honestly it feels like a bucket of quaaludes after a joyous 10 days in Rīga.
