I know that some people think preparing food is a waste of time, but in the hour it took to make tagliatelle, I listened to music and didn’t scroll my phone.

Tossed fresh pasta with lemon confit and butter, pecorino and parsley.

Worth every moment.

I’m just going to sit here in my cool kitchen and eat mangoes 🥭 until this weather sets itself right.

Not modern! Rotisserie chicken is one of the great ancient conveniences! Romans had them! Courtiers at Versailles ordered them!

Interiority, or descriptions of your characters' inner lives, helps readers care about your story and builds empathy generally.

But how to connect to a novel when the interiority isn't there?

Millennial writers, Gen X readers and bridging the gap 👀

Time and space work differently in old cities. Or maybe it’s just because #Montréal is a city built on a human scale. Either way, you can’t stray far in this city without meeting familiar faces.

✈️ Montréal Jet Flyover Alert ✈️

At 1:45 PM near the Old Port, the Snowbirds will fly in formation for the national anthem at the F1 Grand Prix over Notre Dame Island

The jets are quieter than those used for the Alouettes home opener and aren’t expected to fly over downtown

I refuse to panic about this Random Waking Up At 4AM business. I made a coffee, did my NYT puzzles and went to the gym.

Baby is definitely going to need a nap later though.

Lots of talk today about the demise of BlueSky. For whatever it's worth, it's been a boon to indie publishers like us. Twitter and Facebook have pretty much silenced us, so the engagement here has, and continues to be, wonderful.

Quebec’s new law fighting revenge porn is a win for women, and it’s about time

“I’m the furthest thing from a CAQ supporter, but in this case, the Quebec government absolutely got it right.”

Work is slow, so I’m taking a deep dive into the kitchen. Making preserved lemon and garlic confit. I also tried a new bread recipe — Croissant Sourdough Bread 🥰

The bake was easy. Fingers crossed for the flavour!

Was gifted some vintage embroidery kits from the 70s!

On the left is the original, and my remix on the right.

Adding beads, silky floss and brighter tones to make the colour palette more modern.
