To everyone on Bluesky finding out about Walliams and despairing at the fact that "I read those books to my kids" I just want to reassure them that it's OK. He didn't write them.

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell.

Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass.

That, right there, is the problem.

ONCE IN A HOUSE ON FIRE, a memoir of a working class Manchester childhood in the 70s and 80s, was a literary sensation. Then author Andrea Ashworth dropped out of sight. For @manchestermill.bsky.social I found out why.

Andrea Ashworth wrote a classic of Mancunian literature. Why did she vanish from view?
My search for the author of ‘Once in a House on Fire’ led to the other side of the world - and to a tantalising revelation

Apropos of nothing, if you're looking to support someone making a long distance walk in support of a great cause, take a look at what my excellent big brother is doing right now.

Land's End to John O'Groats - he hit 500 miles last week, and is currently in Lancaster.
It would be great if you subscribed to his YouTube channel. He doesn't mind if you don't watch the videos, but letting them run to the end helps: "let them play while you make a cup of tea"!

And if you can, do chuck a few pennies his way.

While attempting to tidy up my Chrome bookmarks I rediscovered this interview I did with @antoniahoneywell.bsky.social on Chiltern Voice Radio a couple of months before the pandemic. It is the closest I'll get to being on Desert Island Discs. I got to pick books and songs for two hours. Fab time.
