Took me a bit to process how big a deal this report actually is--its thus far the only review to look at the entire body of currently available research. It took two years to conduct, stands at 1,000 pages, and completely contradicts the Cass Review and the common arguments for bans on this care.
Republicans in Utah commissioned an investigation into gender-affirming care for trans youth after banning it in 2023.

They're now rejecting the findings of that investigation which showed access to care reduced suicides and improved "positive mental health and psychosocial functioning outcomes."
Utah lawmakers’ own study found gender-affirming care benefits trans youth. Will they lift the treatment ban?
The Utah Legislature's own newly-released study found that gender-affirming care benefits trans youth. Now, will lawmakers lift the treatment ban?

Texas conservatives who've championed book bans & anti-LGBT policies suffered big losses tonight in school board races.

And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards.

I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.

One of the newest executive orders is directly going after the civil rights that ensure that the government shall not fund any program that actively discriminates based on immutable characteristics.

They want to actively fund discrimination. Can’t delete “DEI” *and* require it…

I believe the identity of all ICE agents who operate without a uniform and attempt to (illegally) obscure their identities via masks should be public information. Make them stand by their actions.

The American public is good at ID’ing masked men.

This should be a thing.

Act.

1. A major bill protecting trans people just passed in Washington.

It makes insurers cover 12-month supplies of HRT which can be obtained at pharmacies, allowing trans people to stockpile medication to outlast supply disruptions.

If Tesla traded like a normal car company with a p/e ratio between 5 and 10, its stock would trade
be $10 to $20/share. About 90% of its current "value" is based entirely on the myth of Musk. Well call us myth busters cuz we're here to inject some harsh reality into the story. #teslatakedown
the thing that's wild about tesla stock is it has been obscenely overvalued for years.

tesla is a car company that is selling fewer and fewer cars every day.

it trades as high as it does because musk has convinced people there is some sort of super high tech future product to come but there isn't

Extremely important thread if you are a journalist or working otg around ICE.

Remember to call things, like kidnappings, selling humans for labor, etc. exactly what they are…
UPDATE: ICE is wildly unconcerned about where this man is and no one will tell me, his registered attorney. The universal answer so far is "let's wait and see where he ends up." This is deeply off.

We would have more rights at this point if UPS had lost a pair of shoes I'd just bought from Zappos
My detained client was scheduled for a bond hearing this AM in a MA immigration court. He wasn't brought in, and he and his case have disappeared.

I then received this notice of activity on a nonexistent docket in which his name was changed to "N/A"

It's all happening a lot faster than I expected

The death of due process is the most egregious assault on human rights protections in any democracy. Without it, democracy simply does not exist. Call your senators, call your reps. Call the governor, call your HOA for all I care, but please make noise for the people they're trying to disappear.

This is great news, and a good sign from our military leadership. And it’s not just pronouns they are reversing course on. Requirements that pushed people to use bathrooms and uniforms/modes of dress that did not correlate with their gender have also been reversed.

just in very plain terms: we send people to camps now if we, the government, deem it necessary, without due process. you can file a habeas petition in the united states district court with jurisdiction over el salvador, i guess.

Science matters.

For decades we have attracted some of the best minds around the world.

With this? Unless we forcefully and thoroughly reverse course… that will no longer be true. It will be a brain drain, not a brain gain.

It’s important that we don’t lay everything at Trump and Musks feet. Stopping them is important, yes. But ultimately they are not the beginning or the end of this crisis.

We need ongoing organization. Holding onto the past is futile. And that’s good.

A better future is inevitable.

Fight for it.

I find it extremely interesting that matriarchal societies are not the opposite of patriarchal. You would think it focuses on women instead of men.

It doesn’t. It focuses on children. On what’s best for them, and their futures. It is communal, respectful, healing, and nurturing.

A very important thing for people to do in addition to calling their representatives, is call the board members and companies who are cutting their DEI.

They are under the false impression that Trump winning was a signifier in the populace not supporting DEI.

They are wrong.

Let them know.
