As I said before, like my colleagues, I see disinformation as a matter of national security—it's time for politicians and decision makers to understand that.

A critical report by the ICDS on disinformation and information operations. I believe it will be of interest to anyone interested in the topic. I will share just one fact: Russia is investing $1.8 billion in propaganda in 2024, while the EU is investing around $25 million to counter it.

if u don't know SWITCHED-ON BACH is insane because the Moog synth is monophonic. meaning every single note of every single chord in every song had to be overdubbed separately. she had to be extremely precise & meticulous to make that album work

Split Enz's gloriously eccentric early years—when they were co-led by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and very far away from the sharp, succinct pop songwriting of Neil Finn—are collected on the new box set ENZcyclopedia, Volumes 1 & 2. My review:
Split Enz, ENZcyclopedia, Volumes 1 & 2
A five-disc set that thoroughly chronicles Split Enz's early years, when the band was co-led by Tim Finn and Phil Judd.

So the production teams making the biggest studio in the world richer going forward (already on the backs of artists whose work AI uses without consent or compensation) won't even be skeleton crews of industry sycophants but .. their subscribers, for free.

the great Tatsuya Nakadai has passed; noted as one of the greatest actors in japanese cinema, but easily one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. Period.

his on-screen intensity is off the scale - and he does almost all of it with his eyes

Harakiri is a must-see if you haven't. Amazing. 🥲

Please remember that my tech side is pro machine-learning; but I reached a point tonight with all the LLM/scrapernoise - (umm, ‘cuse me, “AI experience”) i started a rant but so far I have avoided posting said rant…

but none of the shit below surprises me

It fits the fucking profile.

this is definitely the optimal use case for Bernie Sanders
Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

Have R senators? (Like me?) Call Schumer’s office to tell him you will never donate to another D senate campaign again as long as he’s Senate leader. Tell him this deal is a shameful joke and a betrayal.

(202) 224-6542
I just did this and if nothing else it was cathartic. I said I would make it my life’s mission to make sure there’s a primary challenger for any D involved in this deal, it’s fucking embarrassing.
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

We just did this as well.

Even as bad as things have already been, the damage will be beyond catastrophic if D's cave. I have friends who may lose their insurance entirely.

An FSA/HSA is useless when your monthly payment is bigger than your yearly savings.

We urge you to make your voice heard.

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.
