My teaching librarian friends, how are you doing? It’s been a lot. What a time to be out here trying to teach critical thinking and information literacy.

a really fucking exhausting thing about this current moment is that any good faith efforts to reform or acknowledge short comings of knowledge producing and sense making institutions is promptly weaponized by people who want to burn the entire thing down and drown us in avalanche of bullshit

Librarian pals, have you experienced students filming themselves the entire time during open search time? First time for me and I have never seen that before. Is it like body doubling but with yourself?

People are wondering how this'll look in action since 'Antifa' is an ideology not a centralized organization but remember when every baby, child & medical practitioner in Gaza was secretly Hamas for the past 23 months?

So I think it'll look like whatever's convenient to jam you up at any given time
BREAKING: Trump says he is designating “Antifa” as a “major terrorist organization.”

Such a step being taken this way would be concerning enough, given what it actually is, but, given that Trump sees “Antifa” hiding in every corner of opposition, this could be an extremely alarming escalation.

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

There are so many other places to get actual useful news.

Regular reminder that there are some public libraries that HAVE been privatized and run by Library Systems and Services, and their communities overwhelmingly regret these privatizations.
I don't want to start a thing so I'll just say that there will never be a good argument for privatizing USPS. That would be like privatizing libraries. The aim of services isn't to be run for profit, they are for serving the greater good, which USPS has been extremely successful at.

It’s all an attitude of being fine with authoritarianism, just not in their preferred cities. High crime rates in Republican-led states isn’t a gotcha! It’s a tragedy and a canary in a coal mine about what systemic racism and poverty beget. Do better, y’all. Not one city should be occupied.
When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.
