I never weigh in on gambling, because I recognize my extreme bias after having a family member steal an obscene amount of money from me in order to gamble. But the sports betters threatening players is disgusting. It’s bad enough in the NFL but they’re doing this to college players too. Teenagers.
Sports betting and fantasy football have become a ubiquitous part of the NFL.

A majority of the respondents to our anonymous player have had fans reach out or confront them about lost wagers and fantasy-league defeats.

“People have said they’d kill me.”

What I like to think my job is: 🥷 💻

What my job actually is:
I love that Prince Andrew had a codename email address to avoid suspicion and all the emails are like 'Had to spend the weekend at Balmoral, Mother wants me to look after the corgis, my brother's here too - not Edward, but Charles, you know the heir apparent.'

“‘Ultimately,’ he said, ‘the government gets to choose the message it wants to convey.’ Rufe swiftly cut him off.
‘That is a dangerous statement you are making. It is horrifying to listen to. It changes on the whims of someone in charge? I’m sorry, that is not what we elected anybody for.’”
A federal judge warned Justice Department lawyers that their statements on a slavery exhibit display in Philadelphia were "horrifying."

Judge Calls DOJ's Statements On Slavery Exhibit Display 'Dangerous' And 'Horrifying'

A federal judge, in a published order, so very much on the record:

“ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

Watching the “Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial” documentary, and I honestly don’t know how any WWII historian is staying sober at this point.

Thing no one warns you about in perimenopause number 8,876,425: Frozen Shoulder. I’ve been in agony and unable to sleep on my right side for nearly two months now only to learn 1) yes, that’s a thing and 2) no worries, it will go away on its own IN A YEAR OR SO. 😩

“The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone.”
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

In Trying to Have a Vacation Despite the Horrors news, I am watching Private Eyes, starring Tim Conway and Don Knotts circa 1980. Absolutely hilarious movie we watched often when I was a kid.

Off work this week to try and recover some resources and stave off another dangerous episode of burn out, but all I’m doing is lying on a heating pad doom scrolling. Didn’t I use to read books and such? Just feels like a betrayal to all my friends and family being hurt right now to look away.

My 16yo & her friends got called into admin this week for wearing Crush Ice shirts. When they asked why kids could wear MAGA shirts, they were told the word “Crush” was violent and therefore distracting. They asked if they could change it to “Abolish” and were told that would also be distracting.
Bovino: "When politicians, community leaders, & some journalists engage in that heated rhetoric we keep talking about, when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement calling law enforcement 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping,' that is a choice & there are actions & consequences."

I went to an unfinished castle that has been under construction by a religious fanatic in TN since 1994 and I will probably never stop talking about it. If I was tasked with building the set for a horror movie about an abandoned castle where hundreds of people had perished, I could not do better.
