Big Tech is driving up the cost of electricity, so we’re fighting back!

We’re launching Power Play NJ to lower energy costs by holding Big Tech accountable and bringing clean energy (and jobs!) to our state.

NEW:

There’s been a lot of discussion lately about rising graduate unemployment.

I dug a little closer and a striking story emerged:

Unemployment is climbing among young graduate *men*, but college-educated young women are generally doing okay.

Earlier today ICE agents hit someone with a car and tear gassed a neighborhood, sparking several fires and disrupting businesses.

Immigrants, by contrast, did not.
ICE is a much greater threat to this country than illegal immigrants. The current administration ia by far the greatest threat this country faces. The problem is not st our borders. It is in the White House.

i cannot see AI benefiting communities. we could literally meet electricity demand without AI and continue electrifying and decarbonizing the economy. what do you think people were doing before us? AI was not in their toolbox.
AI and data center demand growth is a test. If we can't meet this growth in electricity demand, forget electrifying and decarbonizing the economy. This is only the start. Let it focus us on solutions! 🔌💡
🚨 New from me, Prof. @strubell.bsky.social, & CMU Heinz School Dean Ramayya Krishnan: how we handle AI and energy use foreshadows how we will deal with the broader electrification of the economy. If we get this wrong, a safe climate future will slip away. 🔌💡

The Trump Admin says LIHEAP is no longer necessary - it'll just do energy dominance instead, and anyway all poor people are con artists.

Meanwhile, utility rates are skyrocketing to feed Wall St. profits.

Ending LIHEAP would result in people freezing and overheating to death in their homes.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.

Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

This statement from the NSF is insane.

Science is, in essence, designed to separate the true from the false.

Understanding how falsehoods spread is key to the scientific endeavor. It is not a violation of free speech to be proven wrong.

so if they want to halt offshore wind construction, based on the fact they think EIS analysis was rushed, why are they still using it to justify stopping them? wouldnt the EIS be null? additionally, “no collective impact to global warming” means it will not contribute to global emissions because its
