As the child of two librarians I am feeling pretty good about libraries being at the forefront of revolution

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

Once I understood this, a LOT of things fell into place.

When you are unconsciously reacting to archetypes instead of the real person in front of you… things will not go well.
The physical world is true and real; the inner world is also true and real. It is when we muddle them, when we fail to live the inner world as symbol, when we try to locate it in literal people, that the illusory world is created.~Robert A. Johnson

The editors at my company just issued a style guide that is so full of cool precision, emphasis on facts, and not amplifying hyperbole and agendas - that it manages to be at the same time completely neutral while being one of the most beautiful bits of political writing I’ve seen all year.

That's the one
“nobody saw this coming” = “we considered everyone who saw this coming a nobody”
"No one ever thought this would happen" is dishonest and journalists not pointing that out are doing you all a disservice. Many people said word for word this would happen. You just didn't respect those people. And you need to be honest instead of the feigned surprise for sympathy.

I was on this for years
This ABC article is useful: comments by Dr Nisha Koht show that although this might worry people on long-term depo provera, the risk is still v small & other progestogen products sold in Australia are NOT associated with more risk. See your doc if concerned. www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...
Popular contraceptive and endometriosis treatment linked to brain tumour
The contraceptive Depo-Provera has been linked to an increased risk of developing a non-malignant brain tumour, prompting lawsuits in the US and Canada. Now Australian patients are considering a class...

As the Trumpists gut the websites of federal government agencies, stripping them of vital scientific information that Americans need regarding health and safety and myriad other things, recall what Project 2025 envisions for health agencies:

Likewise am very happy to find this feed!

I hear that #sextech isn’t able to be followed as a hashtag any longer on X.

It’s almost like… big tech’s sudden love of freedom of speech doesn’t apply to everyone?!?
🤔
I noticed that there didn't seem to be a dedicated feed for SexTech here on BlueSky. So, the @engerotics.com team created it! Anyone can post to this feed using #sextech so, check it out, give it a like, and start following for the latest and greatest! Enjoy!

This was a really inspiring session and panel. To see so many female founders pushing through the challenges, finding creative workarounds and doing it anyway.

Soooo much money being left on the table because of digital censorship and financial institutions failing to take sextech seriously.

Working out a scenario where Pornhub has to launch a prestigious monthly print magazine in order to stay online in Tennessee. This is how we bring the business back: ransoming access to stepsister-stuck-in-washing-machine content with long-form literary criticism and Malcolm Harris book excerpts.

This thread makes me feel better about humanity 😊
I don't know how many of y'all are watching the migration of American TikTokers to RedNote, but it's the most fascinating thing I've EVER SEEN HAPPEN ONLINE.

I can just empathise so much with Sam’s rant. Nobody asked for Gen AI shit all over their feed. Just because they keep serving it up to us isn’t magically going to make us want it.
Pinterest is fucked beyond any ability to use it for its original purpose.

AI slop and mindless profit seeking is seeing the total enshittification of previously useful tools.

Surely this has to accelerate a new era of tech that returns the focus to user need?

the thing is that bluesky, for all its growth, still doesn’t have a right wing ecosystem big enough to support accounts like Loomer without the rest of us

these people thrive on negative engagement and you cannot quote dunk them off the app, but you can make it so boring and useless that they leave
The best way to treat grifters like Loomer is to ignore them entirely. Don’t let her outrage bait you. All she wants here is to be yelled at and insulted. The absolute worst thing that could happen to her is to be met with silence.
