I've had this pose for Hades (The Hades Calculus) in mind for a while, but it never materialized quite as clearly until last night. A goddess so somber as the lord of the machine dead should stand as a statue, a monolith, so that even the cracks on her facade may speak more of power than frailty.

Clicking "Read More" Reveals her cause of death, but completely ignores transphobia and instead spends 4/5 paragraphs discussing Brianna's phone!
Shoddy Wix website called "Peace and Mind UK" though there's a much larger heading of "Brianna Ghey legacy project" that appears to be an attempt to mislead you over the actual name of the charity. The following content is beneath an image of Brianna: "Peace & Mind UK was founded in memory of Brianna Ghey, by her mother Esther. In the last years of her life, Brianna suffered with her mental health which was exacerbated by harmful online content. Peace & Mind UK aims to help young people and their families to improve mental health through group well-being activities and online safety education. More Info" I ask the reader or listener: if you did not know Brianna's story, how would you think she died? Brianna Ghey website. My daughter, Brianna Ghey, was murdered on the 11th of February 2023. She was lured to a park by two fifteen-year-olds and stabbed 28 times. The children who killed her had been consuming violent and extreme content online. One of them was watching torture videos and so-called "red room" material on the dark web. Part of their motive was to act out the disturbing things they had seen online. In the months before her death, Brianna was struggling deeply with her mental health. She was self-harming, battling anorexia, and becoming increasingly isolated from those who loved her. I worried about how much time she was spending on her phone and who she was speaking to online, but it wasn't until after she died that I discovered she had been accessing harmful content that encouraged self-harm and disordered eating. I still don't know the full extent of what she saw. Her phone had become an addiction. She was constantly scrolling, often late into the night, and trying to take it away led to constant conflict. I could see it was hurting her, but I didn't know how to help, and neither did the professionals we turned to. It is my mission to prevent young people and families from suffering the way we did. I carry Brianna in my heart every single day, she is the driving force behind everything I do. Esther, Brianna's Mum x *** Note Trans not mentioned ONCE. Note the focus on Brianna's "phone addiction" and the claim of her killers being driven to a murderous frenzy by "extremist content" with no political affiliation whatsoever. It is simply suggested that she was a participant in her own slaughter.

Anyway I think there is a lot to talk about with this book, and I quite liked it (went on a whole rabbit hole) so I'm thinking of writing a review to talk about how it refocuses the lens of seeing like a state found in Hades Calculus into showing how small one can be under the shadows of gods.

1 The first time I laid eyes on Akakios, child of Diodotos, xe was drunkenly trying to start a high-end turbobike outside the Draped Vine. Xe had a young-looking face, but xer hair was bone white and xer slight yet toned arms were covered in fading scars. I could tell by xer eyes that xe was wasted, but otherwise xe looked like every hard-working sailor I drank with in those days; it was a strange sight for a high-end establishment like the Vine. Behind the sailor was a girl. Her hair and dress were a deep red—like blood oozing from a wound—and her disinterested smirk marked her as the kind of woman I would have let walk all over me. Her skin was nearly as pale as Akakios' hair. The elegance of that woman almost outmatched the elegance of the bike. Not quite. A rather annoyed parking attendant stood next to the bike, one hand holding it steady as xe struggled with the controls. The man was the usual half-tough character in ostentatious white garb, with the name of the bar displayed on his crisp suit in dark purple. He was at the end of his rope. "Look," he said, his voice as sharp as a knife, "you've got to move the bike. I can even turn it on for you if it gets you out of here faster." He reached for the controls but yelped when Akakios slapped his hand away.
