Go Terps.
Didn’t watch a second of the game but yet again: Andre Mills is a real piece for next season.
FINAL: Maryland falls 78-74 to Northwestern and drops to 10-16 (3-12) on the season despite an unbelievable effort from Andre Mills.

- Darius Adams: 7 pts, 2 ast
- Diggy Coit: 7 pts, 3 ast

I’ve been as checked out on CBB as I’ve ever been this season (combo of Maryland being trash and having a baby), but…what the fuck?

Depending on how you define date, we either ate sushi during a hurricane or went to Five Guys in College Park, MD.
This is an unapologetically sappy feel-good subject (at least, I guess, for people in a happy relationship”). So, to prepare for Valentine’s Day, what did you and your partner do for a first date?

My wife and I went to tea at Huntington Gardens and walked around.
On our first date, my spouse and I spent like an hour talking about footnotes.

This will probably not amount to a ton, but I’m still excited.
Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan plans to sign with the New York Knicks after he clears waivers, his agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports tells ESPN. Sochan had 10 interested suitors after being released from the Spurs on Thursday and landed on the Knicks as his new team.

Different answer depending on your demographic. It’s either Stanley Tucci, Robert Reich, Andy Milonakis or Roger Stone.
Who's the most famous alum of your high school?

I'll go first: David Draiman of Disturbed

I actually got to watch this Maryland game and that’s an awesome win in the middle of a miserable season. Andre Mills is a real piece for next season.

Now that the game is over, we can all admit this Pats team was the worst to ever play in the Super Bowl, right?
February 9, 2026 at 11:35 PM
Sticking my head up from new baby world to ask: did Maryland really just beat Minny on the road?

First year coach success is a dime a dozen these days. Boring.

You know what’s much cooler? Disaster first year and Final Four in your second year with a roster that included a 26 year old and 17 year old.
And Buzz Williams is hoping a 25 year old guard he had at A&M is eligible to play for him at Maryland because he built the worst team in program history. I hate it here.
Three early afternoon wins for happy fanbases hoping for turnarounds under first-year coaches:

Nova wins at G'town, clearly pacing to make the NCAAT.

NC State avoids a home letdown vs. Va. Tech, clearly pacing to make NCAAT.

Indiana beats Wisconsin by one in OT at home to remain in NCAAT picture.

I have to say I’m genuinely fascinated by next season’s Wizards. You have a core of legit good young players, then two of the most enigmatic “stars” in the league. One who isn’t actually good but sometimes is good and the other that is great but doesn’t play basketball that much anymore.
Anthony Davis will not play for the Wizards this season to get healthy for the 2026-27 season, per Chris Haynes.

Go Knicks

Whether or not Buzz gets Payne to RS and come back next season will be an enormous tell for if he has what it takes to win at this job. Can’t overstate how big of a deal it would be.
The only reason to put on a Maryland game is just to check in to ensure that Payne is not playing to keep up the medical redshirt for next season

This isn’t even interesting anti semitism. You’d think these type of guys would have plenty of practice and be more creative at this point.

I’m sorry what is happening here

I’ve changed my tune on this, if the Knicks can trade KAT and one of Bridges/OG to get back Giannis, they should get it done.
Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN.

The NFL takes itself as seriously as any large organization in the world and still does stuff like this.
A stunner from @dvnjr.bsky.social and me: Bill Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer. He didn't get elected this year. The 8-time champion failed to 40 out of the 50 votes required for induction.

Sources: Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer
Bill Belichick, the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach, will not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, sources told ESPN.

Very real chance that the Rep coalition is in the middle of being shattered to bits over a heroically strong Minneapolis. Elected Dems are doing a good job of pressing their advantage.

And a not insubstantial corner of this website is pretending it’s not happening because posting mad feels good.

Field of 68 is an abomination. I don’t say that lightly. I am not a “blame the media” guy about really anything. But it’s run by self important internet poisoned formerly excellent CBB writers/reporters.
Everything about Maryland Basketball sucks right now, but it’s not a worse job than Illinois, Wisconsin, or OSU. I’d never say Maryland should be higher than UCLA, but their current financial situation is a mess. Also worth noting Maryland still has the most recent title of any school on this list.

The Giants new DC is a Terp.

The Tuck Rule Game, which occurred in similar conditions in 2002, arguably kicked off the terrible timeline on which we currently live. The Broncos must win this to fix everything.
January 25, 2026 at 10:42 PM
If you watch what is happening now and still find yourself blaming “both sides” I just no longer have time for anything you have to say. You are actively preventing things changing for the better.

Hell yeah brother Go Mets
BREAKING: The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell Jeff Passan. Deal is done. Top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat are headed to Milwaukee. One more big league pitcher will head to the Mets.

We are going to make it 4 straight for the Big Ten next year.

This is basically what happened for me with thr NFL after the Giants second Super Bowl win over Tom Brady. The first one, when they were undefeated, was as good as a win can possibly be. But backing it up with a SECOND was such pure bliss. They never need to win ever again, I had that.
OK. If I'm an Indiana football fan, that's it for me re: sports
