This really is the culmination of the unitary executive theory — the entire cabinet must profess servile fealty to the personality of one man & forswear any notion that their office entails responsibilities to the American people or concern for the public good beyond servicing his whims

Even just for the relatively petty reason I needed a bunch of hotels in the past bc my HVAC was constantly breaking in extreme weather this is outragrous af. Anything more serious and they really tryna get people hurt or worse
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

In America, where irony is dead, a hotel chain uses a policy denying shelter to local people, for fear of accidentally housing homeless persons…

To deny a reservation to the author of a much-lauded book on how American economic unfairness forces working people into homelessness.

Over the summer I reported a person with (what seemed to me to be measles) at my departure. I called TSA, Port Authority of NY NJ, and the airline I was flying. They let the person on the flight without even questioning. Per gate agent, multiple ppl reported it but airline was not allowed to act.

I personally think the podcast medium is overstimulated for interviews and underutilised for beautiful atmospheric dramatic storytelling. But that’s probably just me.
