We are excited to announce our endorsement of Ayah Al-Zubi of @bostondsa.org for Cambridge City Council! 🌹
Ayah's experience as a young Muslim woman and renter uniquely positions her to understand the struggles of immigrants in Cambridge, young people, renters, and more. 🤝

The disastrous lapse in SNAP benefits has put a spotlight on food insecurity — an issue that was already getting worse here, especially with the loss of the Daily Table. But we can fill that void, while giving the grocery chains some healthy competition. It's time for a city-owned grocery store.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Just yesterday, Governor Healey was on the radio defending the #Worcester cops who assaulted a teen girl while ICE goons abducted her mother. #Massachusetts deserves better than this two-faced fraud.

Öztürk was seized and taken away by masked men who refused to identify themselves. Until she arrived at what was recognizable as a police station in Lebanon, NH, hours later, she thought she had been kidnapped by the people who doxxed her.

Terrifying map of academics being targeted by ICE/State Dept. (thanks @jamiejhagen). This is an excellent example of counter mapping. Cartography can be powerful. It can be radical.
Did a quick map of academics targeted by ICE/State Dept wtih @lindsaythomas.net this morn. @goldfarb.bsky.social was there in spirit. We're gonna hand this over to We Are Higher Ed and contribute to them going forward. More polished version might follow if it becomes useful to y'all.

Been having a lot of conversations lately about effective pedagogy, and so many of them ultimately come back to a belief I have that the information itself is never as important as cultivating the curiosity and desire to find it.
