Taylor’s Little Get Away
#comics
Taylor walks through the snow, shivering and uncomfortable. They approach a gateway with the words ‘Get Away’ on it. The snow stops at the gate, past it is a summery oasis. A bird sings as butterfly’s flutter around the gate. Taylor Takes off their jacket, hat, scarf, and boots. Stretching out in the warmth. They step into the water, kicking it around happily and laughing. The laughter fades. “Ha ha yeah.” Taylor says to themself while rubbing their neck. They stand on a small wooden bridge, looking down. They lay down on the bridge, covering their eyes as they begin to cry. A snapping turtle and fish can be seen in the water below the foot bridge. “FUCK!” Exclaims Taylor as all the frustration breaks through. The tears streaming down their face, Taylor looks at their own hands. “Ok ok ok. Breath ok you’re okay.” They say to calm themself.

An Atlantic Horseshoe Crab crawls onto the shore of a beach, very active with humans. The horseshoe crab thinks to its self “These humans. So self-obsessed. Opposable thumbs. Feh! Mighty and noble horseshoe crabs have roamed the Earth for over 480 million years. These silly apes. Two eyes, what are you a fish? Wow! I’m really smart and funny. I am the whole package!” A wave sweeps inland, sending the crab tumbling, belly up. Humans play in the surf behind it.

I usually work a triple shift 7 days a week: parenting & helping my elderly mom/housework/work work and sometimes day labor. it sucks a lot lol! but scribbling these comics on scrap paper saves my life. try it! or make anything. it helps! I hope everyone can find the time to make stuff :)

The thing about rejection emails, I never know how close I came to being selected or not. I’ve gotten better at handling the rejection, but there still a voice in my head that says: I bet they decided to reject you immediately. You don’t belong along side your peers. You don’t make good art.

I reached the final page of my sketchbook, so it’s time to construct a new one!
The final page of a small, handmade sketchbook. There is a woman looking at the moon from a cliff drawn on the last page. On the inside back cover there’s a post it notes with a doodle of Puppycat. Below that a little doodle of a bust. Behind the small sketchbook is a new sketchbook being constructed; still a WIP. The WIP stetchbook, made form recylced materials. Still needing more sewing along the spine.
