Charlie Brown… Charlie Brown. Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time… a long time.

I think my uncle knows him. He said he was dead.

Oh, he’s not dead. Not yet

You know him?

Well, of course I know him. He’s me! I haven’t gone by the name Charlie Brown since, oh, before you were born.
“Give me a ping, Charlie Brown. One ping only, please.”

Years ago I stacked my L.E. Modesitt Jr books atop each other to see how high they stacked. Answer was around six feet!

I have more Modesitt books now and am thinking this needs to be recreated

Have I mentioned that I’m really loving AN ECHO OF THINGS TO COME by James Islington? Because I am.

Y’all: @garethlpowell.bsky.social writes truly awesome stories with characters you can identify with, who have real flaws and hopes. He is also a good person with great thoughts, and honestly the entire time I have followed his social media he has been such an encouragement and a breath of fresh air
Time for a new introduction. I’m a science fiction author from Bristol in the UK. I’ve written over 20 published books, had my work translated into numerous languages, and won an award or two. I mainly post about books, writing, and my part-time job in a bookshop.

Read @luketarzian.bsky.social books for all your Fantasy-Trauma book needs!
Them: “What do you write?”

Me: “Trauma.”

Them: “…No, like, what genre?”

Me: “Oh, sorry. Fantasy-trauma.”

This is a great take for real.

The family of urban coyote that lived near my home were chill and wanted nothing to do with people.
Personally, I think off-leash dogs whose owners who have zippo control over them are a much, much bigger problem than, say, urban coyotes.

Thanks to the wonderful @nickborrelli.bsky.social having me think about Frank Herbert I wanted to share about my favorite Non Dune book by FH: THE GODMAKERS

A standalone that builds on concepts from some of his short stories, the title does kind of give away the concept, but it’s a neat read.

Knowing nothing of Hollow Knight other than this was too cute to not print!

High Fantasy Books like being chonkers. This one is a book two of three. Book one was GREAT so I’m happy to devote attention here.

New journal (bright yellow cover!) and disposable fountain pens ordered!
My quest to be more analog continues. I’ve journaled each night past three nights and sketched as well. Happy with this start.
I’ve never tried fountain pens before and they’re pricey so wanted to give a try to them cheaply.

Really feeling the need to take more conscious steps towards a more analog life.

More physical books, record playing, pen and paper writing, drawing, painting.

Less phone screen time.

I’ll roll with this and see what positive growth can happen.

The SPSFC is back for year five!!
It is a great competition and well worth joining in if you are a self published SciFi author, or love SciFi and want to judge, OR if you want to find more Self Published SciFi to read, then here is a great competition to join or follow along!

The world is both awful and beautiful.

I do not have the answers but I have optimism and believe in the goodness of humanity.

Today I’ll be taking my children to a couple libraries as this is what they enjoy, and I will hope that everyone who reads this is encouraged and does something good.

When you want to read but you also maybe drank one glass too many of whiskeys sooooo guess it is social media instead of reading! 😅

Toxic trait of watching people do blindfolded speed cubing and then purchasing cubes myself because surely I can do these with my eyes open knowing damn well I’ve never completed a single rubik’s cube in my whole life yet but going to try again anyways.

Authors do not have to finish series (or books) they are writing.

Readers do not have to finish series (or books) they are reading.

Wheel Of Time should have ended with Robert Jordan.

Dune should have ended with Frank Herbert.

If GRRM doesn’t want to write any more ASOIAF then that’s fine with me.

If Rothfuss never publishes book three of The Kingkiller Chronicles I’ll be ok.

There are plenty of other books to read.

The painting begins. Keeping it light easy fun right now. Imperial Fist Yellow Contrast for the right shoulder, Bharroth Blue for the body. Saving the left arm for now, thinking each Company in the Chapter gets a unique color for the left arm. Helmets might be colored for each Squad in the Company.
