Targets (1968) is a weirdly prescient movie about mass shootings before the US got really into mass shootings.

It’s also about Boris Karloff.

Watching grim movies for the @allisfullofgore.bsky.social Sunday matinée always lifts my spirits, or at least rattles them. Today we finished my programme with The Piano Teacher (2001). Horrific heartbreaker! Each micro~expression on Isabelle Hupert's face goes a very long way indeed. Masterful.

Today for our @allisfullofgore.bsky.social matinee we watched Michael Haneke's the Piano Teacher: a horror movie about parental pressure and expectations, gender, loneliness, vulnerability, kink, and male patriarchal anxiety.

Lost a young friend this month. So unexpectedly. They left behind their two sweet cats, who were only just starting to bond. We can't keep them and need help. If you're anywhere in the north or Midlands please share. #leeds #nottingham #yorkshire #midlands #adoptacat #manchester

Sunday's @allisfullofgore.bsky.social matinee feature was Gaspar Noe's SEMINAL "Enter the Void", as curated by moi truly. This film has huge nostalgic value for me so I have zero capacity for critique with regards to it, and will defend it to the last! 🗡️😵‍💫

Amazing film. Rewatched it with @allisfullofgore.bsky.social recently, but if you've never seen it or want to see it with a smart and engaged audience of perverts, I strongly recommend Deadlights.

we watched A Field In England for @allisfullofgore.bsky.social Sunday matinee, and it fucks. A confident mix of horror, comedy, absurdity, and tragedy, it incorporates mysticism and occultism, psychedelic drugs, homoeroticism, awful violence, resurrection, and tableau vivant. It's an experience.

There has been an @allisfullofgore.bsky.social debate about Weapons (2025) vs. Barbarian (2022) and I definitely think Weapons does it better. I am a Barbarian hater. On basically every level Weapons is a better movie and tells a better story, even if I still have criticisms.
I watched Weapons (2025) and liked it, even if I wasn’t super thrilled or impressed. If you want a horror movie that is not really engaging with “themes” or saying anything at all, this is pretty good.

I do have to hand it to Weapons for sticking the ending like an Olympic gymnast though.
