AI pushes our systems towards bullshit jobs and menial crud. That it works so well for so many software problems is an indicator that most of our abstractions for software suck and require a lot of menial glue to get held together.

Today I got confirmation from a friend that their house burned to the ground in the fires in LA. Chaparral wants to burn, and these fires have been in some of the most difficult conditions for firefighting. My heart aches for all those impacted.

I love all the papers coming out showing that RTO mandates were a dumb idea. And I notice all the data-driven CEOs are not rapidly issuing retractions. It’s not about “collaboration” it’s about control.
