It's new release day! 🥳 "Bodies of Water" is a high-heat queer age gap romance, about an 38yo gay guy who thought he'd found The One, is left reeling after that relationship collapses, and has to learn how to love (& lust) again.

It's available on Kobo Plus, Amazon, Smashwords, itchio, etc... 🌈📚💙

Turns out, the way to get me to buy your book is to say it has judgmental chickens in it 🐓 Looking forward to reading this later!
Can I do a tiny bit of advertising?

I have a short gay romance that's vaguely seasonal and only 99c. It has judgemental chickens that kept inserting themselves into my plot and a hot pink cover.

We are quite skint and I would really appreciate a boost 🥰 #Booksky 🌈📚

A thread with the phrase "The mere presence of one dildo at their feet was enough to trigger chemical weapons" cannot be skipped.
Hey #Resisters!

This is probably the most beautiful and hilarious protest story you’ll find.
Is there violence? Yes.
But this is protesting with “Tactical Frivolity”, which has become the key phrase for #ICE protests, inspired by #Portland

This story happened in #Minneapolis

#Booksky Nice piece on Greg Ketter (aka: the guy in the cloud of tear gas yelling, “Fuck ICE!”) of DreamHaven Books in Minneapolis! Greg has supported us from Day 1 and often hosts our events. And our publisher just started working there part time.

All of this is excellent advice, but this part - on negative reviews - really stood out to me:

"Sometimes even a nasty asshole will put their finger on something that needs handling, and your duty to your art requires that you take that on board. But you don’t have to take the nastiness with it."
Status report, “Sudden Urge” dep’t: Busy with writing & French toast again. But for some reason this post came up in a search earlier, and a back-of-brain voice whispered, “Maybe somebody needs to hear this today?” So. https://www.dianeduane.com/outofambit/2014/07/13/about-self-esteem-in-writing/

Weird to have added "Have Jenny Hamilton dissect one of my sex scenes" to my writer wishlist so early on a Monday morning, but that's where we are right now.

(This is excellent and worth reading)
good morning! in mental defense against The Horrors, I have done another Anatomy of a Sex Scene. now with litfic!

(I know, I know, but bear with me. this author knows her way around a sex scene. this woman has written fanfiction. I know it in my heart. I have seen her at the devil's sacrament.)
Anatomy of a Sex Scene: Moderation, Elaine Castillo - Reading the End
in which we consider all the nuts and bolts of a (sort of) sex scene from Elaine Castillo's sophomore litfic novel, Moderation.

"Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up" is so vastly applicable, they should print it on banknotes and the backs of credit cards so we never forget it.
Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.

It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.

Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.

Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

Novella is such a tricky length to get right; tbh, I'm not sure I ever quite have. Some great points (and warnings) from Adele in this 🧵
I just read a very disappointing novella written by an author whose work I usually enjoy. I really love the novella format and while I'm no expert (I've only published 2), I do have thoughts about it.

I've said this a couple times in interviews lately but it's annoying that the lesson publishing will take away from this isn't "invest in more specific, niche, and/or weird books that cater to an under-served readership." It'll be "MORE SPORTS" bc that's a variable they can quantify.

Another secret! Book reviews don't have to be extensive and thoughtful and deep. You can give a book 5 stars and say nothing, or you can say, "Really enjoyed it!" or "Lovely worldbuilding!" or "One of my favorite authors!" No one expects a thesis. Every review helps.
