What about the Epstein files?
I don’t think any demographic from old twitter has aged worse than venture capitalists

Can SNL morally ether this dipshit?
To be clear, saying you're going to "avoid politics" is an INCREDIBLY political statement, especially in an age of fascism.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

Just stumbled across this and it was like talking a walk down memory lane

When I first fell in love w podcasts circa 2009-2013 npr shows played a much larger role in my listening, Radiolab being the most prominent
There have been a ton of 20th anniversary "best of" podcast lists lately, and it has started to feel a bit like an obituary for an industry.

Just to reiterate, I think the Threads numbers Meta touts (both the initial sign up numbers causing unscrupulous journalists to say things like “fastest app to 100M users and current MAU) are not representative of actual, normalized usage
And yet, Threads has virtually no cultural impact whatsoever
New stats suggest that Threads now has more daily users than X

One of the biggest disappoints ab SV (and boy are there a lot) is that there are so many ppl that could actually make great products if they had access to capital + talent, but instead it’s so often ppl throwing money at folks whose only discernible skill set is climbing a corp ladder or peddling bs

Congratulations Brett Kavanaugh
Today I spoke with Greg Bovino, a top U.S. Border Patrol chief, as he led dozens of feds in military gear through downtown Chicago.

He said they were arresting folks based on “how they look.”

“How do they look compared to, say, you?” he said, referring to me.

So far today, Chuck Schumer has said his strategy for preventing Trump sending troops into blue cities is to win over Republican senators (!) while Hakeem Jeffries praised Eric Adams's courage and authenticity (!!) while refusing to endorse Mamdani. Again.

These two gotta go.

Honestly Jeffries move here is politically baffling and just undermines any faith that he can pull off the kind of strategy needed to deal with Trump.
NEW: Jeffries praises Eric Adams in a statement, saying he has "served courageously and authentically for decades" and that "meaningful progress has been made" during his mayoralty.

Says he will "publicly weigh in" on the mayoral race "well before the start of early voting.”

CEO pay is up 1,094% since 1978, while worker pay is up just 26%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

If 1/3 of the nation is putting their trust in media orgs and personalities that are clearly bad faith operators, the left, dems, and rest of the media has GOT to find a way to illuminate to everyone how those information sources are disingenuous and manipulating their viewers

It’s been, I think 2 years since I’ve seen anyone share a Ben Thompson post. Almost forgot ab him

It’s so shocking how ab 95% of tech twitter is not on bluesky, which is completely insane (there were many many non-maga types, even if some self interested billionaires and their coat riders now are)
Ben Thompson is excited about a new monetization opportunity using AI to recognize objects in YouTube videos then show ads for them.

This is cool but not groundbreaking, TikTok already does this and recently got heat for showing links to TikTok Shop for items in videos about Gaza.
The YouTube Tip of the Google Spear
I’ve come to appreciate Google’s amorphous nature; what makes me bullish is the clarity of YouTube’s AI opportunity.
