Massachusetts does this and I'm so glad Colorado does too! If you look at the extra tax amount it works out to $40 extra per month. I make less than half of the threshold amount and I wouldn't even notice that.

Please, PLEASE, I am begging you as both a parent and someone who is sick of all this THIS, go vote for your school boards. Even if you don't have kids, that's how these reactionary dipshits got their feet in, that's where the book bans and library cuts start.

Glenn Close and Christopher Walken, Sarah and Jacob in the Hallmark Hall of Fame TV Movie of "Sarah, Plain and Tall."
Bill Murray, Michael Jordan's friend in Space Jam
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”

AI is like that time I woke up and found a U2 album I didn't ask for on my iPod.

I don't want it. I didn't ask for it. Leave me alone.

It's telling that Vance's first instinct following the Politico leak was to tell his sons to be wary of what they write in group chats--to assume “some scumbag is going to leak it in an effort to try to cause you harm.”

His message here is basically--be racist; just don't get caught.

This podcast has made my kid so brainy. She had a Greek Mythology 7th birthday party and made up games about different myths, and she retold the 11th Labor of Heracles in her 1st grade talent show. Can't wait for the new season!
Greeking Out Season 12 just launched last Friday on YouTube! You can listen on YTMusic and turn off the screen, which is great for car rides. The first episode is when we finally broke down and let the Oracle do a story: youtu.be/P0agJv2JAVM?...

Bought a bunch of plums. Put them in the fridge for tomorrow. Pretty excited about this foolproof plum storage plan.

The state’s elimination of vaccine mandates is a courageous first step toward decluttering itself of any excess kids.

Guess I'll get 30-45 seconds of my life back every day now that the NYT mini requires a subscription. So help me if they take my sudoku.

The worst thing that ever happened to my family while visiting DC was my then-5yo learning while on the Metro that she gets motion-sick when she reads on the Metro.

My 1st grader had to "illustrate someone in trouble" for a school exercise and like a completely normal child who has listened to the NatGeo Kids "Greeking Out" podcast at least 10 times, she drew Andromeda chained upside down from a tree to be fed to a sea monster.

If you're a grad student or an undergrad interested in research I need to you listen to me very carefully.

You cannot learn to write good research papers if you do not read good research papers.

Stop asking LLMs to summarize papers for you.

My 7yo's contributions to this:

I had a Prometheus joke but it's not very good because Epimethius has all the good stuff.
I had an Eurydice joke, but looking back on it, I shouldn’t have
I had a Sisyphus joke, but what's the point?
