BBC gently throwing Farage a gentle dolly with this down page press release vomit. Wondering if Angela Rayner had committed similar offences how hysterical Mason, Zeffman would be. Answer? Very.

I’m no fan of Starmer’s, but the people claiming that he’s constantly drowned out by Trump’s colossal megaphone are the ones who have turned #r4today into a de facto American international news outlet. If they’re not talking abt U.S. current affairs, they’re boring us to death with its history.

Who is this boy? What is going ON? Leeds steal it in the middle, Gruev plays the ball to Aaronson on the right and he comes inside and drills the ball off the far post and into the net. Three lovely finishes in two games.

What a move. What a goal. Back to front. Some lovely passing. Bravery on the ball. Stach whips it out to Aaronson, his ball in is perfect and England's number 9 finishes. Again. In his office.

Valid point however it seems modern UK politicians haven't made the connection between selling off & outsourcing many functions of the state & elected politicians losing control of the state. I mean if you privatise prisons & outsource staff how could that go wrong?

Yep. It all comes from the incestuous relationship between Big Business and Govt, particularly Tories, involving school and family connections and lazy procurement and contracting.
A growing economy needs a public/private partnership rather than endless competition.

Having had indirect dealings with SERCO in the past I’m of the opinion that they are a rentier business - taking a slice from the government contracts they win before subcontracting the real work out. I’d go as far as to say the only work they do is the work to win the contract. #r4today

It's all very well for Rupert Soames of the CBI, past boss of Serco, to say that Labour doesn't understand business. By contrast, the Tories didn't understand the public sector, and ruined it systematically, in part by giving vast contracts to cos like Serco.

I think that with Labour it is timidity, the inertia of change, fear of the media, rather than corruption, that's weighing them down. The result may be the same, but Labour want to succeed and may do so, given time and good will.

Why Tony Abbott? Of all the ex-Australian Prime Ministers, he’s the most right-wing bigoted anti-immigrant Brexit supporter. Were no other Australian statesmen available or was he just the topmost in the BBC Rolodex? You know he’s going to blame all the immigrants, right? #r4today #BondiBeach

It's not common for BBC presenters on the liberal / humanist end of the spectrum to speak out on this issue. The usual response is to go quiet or both-sides the "debate." Or maybe use the "it's a toxic debate" off-ramp that is offered to them by the religious right insurgency. #r4today
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
