I just put rice in the taco beef to stretch it. While I’m glad my mom and my HomeEC II teacher taught me depression-era skills, I am pissed at the oligarchs for making me use them, and I REALLY don’t want to have to dust off any more. And god help us if I have to use margarine again.

Eat pantry 1st, freezer 2nd. Rice, beans, lentils to stretch. Do w/o, buy grocery brands, 2 for 1 deals, no processed foods. A million ways to save money, take the first step. That is, if you have money to buy groceries. If you do, donate 2 food banks for those who don't.

It's profoundly different to cover a U.S. president than state or local officials, and too, much harder to vent publicly if you're female. But if in my reporting days, if anyone from a police sergeant to the mayor of Baltimore told me, "Quiet, piggy," I'd immediately insist he go fuck himself.
