Last night after millions of workers marched around the world, we held a vigil in San Jose with our partners to honor and remember the immigrant workers who have been disappeared because of their precarious status or been attacked for using their right to speak up on behalf of those who cannot.🧵

There are a ton of great movies and TV shows out right now, many of them super relevant to the, uh… *unique* US political climate.

Like Andor, which is showing some teeth in a second season that’s a vivid metaphor for America’s descent into authoritarianism.
Star Wars’ ‘Andor’ Season 2 Depicts the Banality of American Fascism
The franchise’s Disney era has been defined by toothless politics, but “Andor” Season 2 is a vivid metaphor for America’s descent into authoritarianism.

Due process is firmly enshrined in the constitution. It means the government must give you notice & an opportunity to be heard BEFORE divesting you of your liberty or property—every time. There are no qualifiers. There are no terms & conditions. There are no exceptions for “illegals” or “bad guys.”

Entering the world post-college is already a challenging transition. This major government upheaval is cruel
As President Trump seeks to dismantle whole agencies, college seniors have been terminated from internships and others have had job offers rescinded after the administration froze hiring across the federal government.
Meet the College Seniors Who’ve Had Their Dreams Upended by Elon Musk

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation.

It’s an essential step in the process.

Because of the pay gap, women have lost out on more than $60 trillion in wages since 1967.

Yes, trillion.

On an hourly basis, women were paid 18.0% less on average than men in 2024.
