Fantasy writer, weaver of words and worlds. Admirer of intriguing monsters, cunning ladies, and nefarious villains. Lovely to meet you!
Not technically from my current work or setting. But purple is forever linked in my head to my first major OC.

Young overlord aspirant Kelaris is deeply connected to that colour. Her magic is purple, her eyes goes from blue to purple as she grow more powerful. And her evil alter ego is so purple.

In Ryleth there is 'Caiphos' or the 'Fable Star', a single blood-red star sometimes appearing in the night sky, and is their world's worst omen of ill and evil.

The myth goes that if it rises over a specific place, everyone below its scarlet light will go insane and slaughter everyone around them.
Welcome to #NovemberWorldbuilders!
This week's theme is COLORS! Tell me about something in your world that's RED. Do you use it symbolically? Do you have anything special in your worldbuilding that's red. Maybe an animal, jewels, a garment, a flower, or something more strange and magical?

The weirdest thing about Selendis is the 'disjunctions', where essentially the land rearranges itself.

On the smallest scale, it can be tiny things like a tree shifting places or a a mountain changing orientation, etc. this is common and happen somewhere every day, though most people never see it.
Authors and Gamemasters, today's world building question!

Are there magical or supernatural geographic phenomena in your world?

One of my current villains just wants to play and enjoy herself with the MC.

If that involves a bit of murder to set the scene, mental torture and abuse of loved ones, and some very dark flirting and twisted manipulation, that just makes the fun all the more memorably ~

The strangest thing about the solar cycle in my world is that the day never varies, regardless of season.
And the main way that you tell that a new year has begun is that once every 396 days, on solstice, the shines with a 'flare' where the sunshine is about three times as bright as any other day.
Authors and Gamemasters, today's world building question!

Is there anything unusual about the solar cycles of your world? How important is the sun to your magic system/story? If at all.

I need some degree of happy end in the stories I read. Not in every book but absolutely at the end of a series.

I tend to favour some degree of 'earn your happy end' or the happier end of 'bitter-sweet ending'.

At least as a general sense, I have liked some darker / sadder endings, but it's rare.
Happy #tuesday! Today's #writingq and #trope for discussion is: Happily ever afters!!

Do you enjoy this type of ending? Have you written it? When was it done well vs bad?

What character permanently altered you brain chemistry?

While Raiden from Genshin is the one that is currently most on my mind, if I had to pick just one of all time, it would have to be:

The Perennial sea is incredibly deep. And exist in several layers.

The first layer is the Pelagial. This layer extends from the surface to over 27 kilometres deep. And is full of sea creatures from whales and sharks, mosasaurs, and deep sea horrors. And even some undersea civilizations.

We are having the largest thunderstorm I think I have ever seen right now ❤️‍🔥

It it's supper cool with constant rain, lightning, and thunder every few minutes. And it's enormous, at least by our standards.

Here's a map of the storm currently and a cropped European map for comparison.

My world has six seasons:

Hibernal - frigid cold and snowy
Prevernal - chilly and often windy
Vernal - mild weather, often rain
Aestival - warm, sunshine and rain
Serotinal - heat, dry warmth
Autumnal - dry and mild climate

It's somewhat more complex than this, but that is the easy shorthand.

Okay... okay...

I just sent a query to my nr. 1 dream agent.
After I just discovered that he is *also* the agent for all of my top five all-time favourite books.

I do not have high hopes - I know my work is not on the level of the books he already represents.
But fingers crossed.

Having recently received a WONDEFUL fanfic that followed my characters and worldbuilding accuracy to an extraordinary degree, yes, I would love more, if they also respected my setting
#WritingCommunity Here's a question. Would you want anyone else to write stories in your setting? Are there any other writer's settings you'd like to write in?

Last movie I saw was K-pop Demon Hunters - and the most recent series was season two of My Dress-Up Darling.

In my Selendis world the main religion worships a triune goddess called Asharti.

She is formally symbolized by a trinity knot / triquetra. Though that is often simplified to a ordinary triangle.

Their church has nine different sects, who each have their own version of the symbol.

#MythAugust (I'm late, but really wanted to do this one)

The higher cosmos in my characters' world is largely a mystery. But there is an archaic deck of tarot said to hold clues about it.

The highest ranking card is called 'The World', and is followed by the five cardinal cards, as shown here:

A snippet from my acupuncture medical procedural story Needles of Life.

One of the characters have a series of flashback scenes, and they were easily my favourite thing to write in this story 😁

As I was just reminded by a friend, in Danish the word for cook is 'kok', the word for castle is 'slot', and the word for dune is 'klit'.

So if you were to say 'there are many cocks in the castle near the dunes'. it would sound like:

There are many cocks in the slut near the clits.

Your welcome.

I have actually tried this in real life, and let me tell you - it sucks!

On a school trip I shared a bed with the girl I was in love with.
I was terrified of accidentally touching her. So I lay completely still all night, and got barely two hours of sleep, while sweating with my heart pounding.
Welcome to our new weekly trope chat! Every Tuesday, we'll post a trope and you can share what you think of it! Do you like this trope? Hate it? Have you used it in your writing? Can you think of a time when you saw it used well?

This week's trope is: ONLY ONE BED

Holy shit - I saw Kpop Demon Hunters yesterday ❤️‍🔥

Not once, not twice, but *six* times over two days. It is so fucking good. I cried at Rumi's finale, twice.
And the music was incredible. And I actually genuinely liked the romance, which is fairly rare for me.

I'm tempted to write a story with a character that is cursed to be uglier the happier and more innocent she is, and prettier the darker and more wrathful she is.

Just for the whiplash of using the line - 'Then he saw her again.... and she was more stunning beautiful than anyone he had ever seen.'

#Daily100 - day 5

Didn't get any writing done on my main wip, but did work on a side project.

"So you have already gotten rid of the painting. Did you know that was my mother's? The last one she painted before she was killed.”

Alright, #WritingCommunity, I haven't done a #writingq on Bluesky yet, so here's the first.

Today's topic - ruler

Tell me about who rules where you story is set. Is it ruled by a king or queen, perhaps a council of aristocrats? Tell me about them, or what interests you about them.

I have a lot, but the current main ones and their primary stories are:

Perennial - 'Emberglass' and the other Kealin Valanthyr's stories

Selendis - 'Princess of Dreams', 'Needles of Life'

Malanta - 'Witching Hour', chose-your-own-adventure

Ryleth - 'Thief of Virtues'

Gaian - 'Fourth Kingdom'
Authors and Gamemasters, today's world building question!

What is the name of your world? If the different nations within it? Is there a certain naming convention you've used? Do the names hold any meaning?
