I have a horrible feeling this is down to a UK/US date format screwup - day/month vs month/day www.bbc.com/news/article...
Biffy Clyro scrap US tour over 'genius' visa error
The band say "some genius" filled in the wrong dates on their visa form, making the tour impossible.

"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

Time to block @avclub.com before they inevitably spoil Stranger Things in a headline tomorrow.

“A Scout is brave.”
Strong response from Scouting head (and former aerospace CEO) Roger Krone.

I personally did not vibe with the other kids in my Scout troop, but this whiskey-breath chickenhawk peckerhead “Secretary of War” is awakening levels of patriotic outrage in me I didn’t know were there

Ever since the worst people in the world were given the reigns of power, I've had to remind myself of this too many times a day 😖

Does the BBC think it's improper for a speaker to state their opinion that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history?

Because I think almost all historians would readily agree that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history.

Since everyone seems to be doing their SW takes in response to this, my own prequel bugbear is that everything (particularly the political discussions) is framed in big, wide shots, killing connection to the characters in favour of showing off the pretty CG backgrounds.

Also, the score NEVER STOPS!
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

My shortlist for my favourite albums of 2025 is currently sitting at 30. This is going to be a fun one to whittle down, but I guess that's the sign of a good music year?

Between conflicting family safety settings on Microsoft, Xbox (which we don't have BTW, but that seems to be where all PC game settings live), and Roblox, I can't figure out which one is suddenly stopping my kids from playing Roblox 🤬.

I'm listening to the audiobook of Tim Curry's memoir, "Vagabond", read by the man himself. The stroke has very obviously affected his speech, but his wit and talent as a storyteller is still there. It is, however, the only use I've found for adjusting the playback speed of an audiobook.

I'm realizing that '76 is quite underrepresented in my record collection. Lots from '75 or '77, but '76 doesn't have too much for me. It does have Dylan's "Desire" though, so that's next for this morning #NowPlaying

I still have the house to myself so I've decided to keep on listening to 1976, with Genesis's "A Trick of the Tail". Not that I ever really need a reason to listen to this one mind you. #NowPlaying

This album is so forgotten it doesn't even turn up in listicles of "Worst album covers"
I'm starting my Sunday morning with an album that I've never heard before - Loudon Wainwright III's "T Shirt". I went through a Loudo phase about 25 years ago, but I don't remember seeing this one on CD even... So far, so OK, though opener "Bicentennial" sounds like it has wah-wah on the vocals?

Split Enz 1976 album Second Thoughts has now been remixed and remastered as part of ENZyclopedia Vol.1 & 2. Produced by Phil Manzanera, best known for being part of Roxy Music and also for his impressive production work for Pink Floyd, John Cale and Nina Hagen. Link in bio to order.. 💿🎸

It has arrived in Canada! Split Enz in 5.1!!! Never thought I'd see the day, but getting to hear a surround mix of "Second Thoughts" (AKA the Chrysalis "Mental Notes") is quite fabulous ❤️ Thanks to @super-deluxe.bsky.social for putting this out.

Now, I just need to upgrade to an Atmos setup...

Great interview here with Eddie & Phil Manzanera about the new Split Enz reissues. The talk of what comes next is quite tantalizing... 🤞
There's a wonderful interview with #RoxyMusic legend #PhilManzanera, on SDE, about his production work on #SplitEnz's 1976 album 'Second Thoughts'. Eddie Rayner, the band's keyboardist, also answers some questions! Have a read > bit.ly/47NHRyL
