Every year, I read a book for Christmas break. I read David Graeber's Bullshit Jobs in 2022, and man, has this passage stuck with me. Dude was ahead of the curve.

An observation (or two) from down south. First, y'all have responded well. I see a level of social cohesion that reminds me of the U.S. in the 30s. People either rise to the moment or they don't, and so far, you have.

FWIW, he's openly acknowledged that the best proof of his ideas and governing philosophy is when they succeed. He may be a socialist, but he's sending signals that he's also a pragmatist.

The Trump administration has said it was improving the SSA. A year in, it looks like the mess that everyone else predicted. Not enough staff, manipulation of numbers and declining performance.
